Halo 2 two-way teleports like Beaver Creek and Warlock allowed you to keep facing one direction as you passed through, rather than spit you out face forward like in Halo 3.

Halo 2 also included telefragging, where a player gets killed if they sit on a receiver for too long.

I would like to see Halo 2 style teleporting make a return in Reach. Anyone else agree?

Consider this:

Halo 2 - While engaged with another player you backup through a two-way teleporter. As the other player follows you through, you are both still engaged, still trying to outstrafe each other, still in the heat of battle.

Halo 3 - While engaged with another player you backup through a two-way teleporter. Since you are backing up and the teleporter spits you out face-forward, you move back onto the same teleporter you just came out of, ready to assassinate whoever is stupid enough to follow you through.

This slows down the pace of the game. It makes players reluctant to use teleporters in Halo 3, since the risk of following a player through outweighs any reward.

I kinda miss the Halo 1 in a way, but I do like the Halo 3.

At least you can control which way a person can go.

I'm confused. I feel the player has more control over themselves in Halo 2, and the Halo 3 design promotes teleporter camping. Why do you guys prefer Halo 3? Just curious, as I have always thought of the Halo 2 design as superior.

Bump for great justice.

Almost a ghost.

I liked everything about Halo 2.

This is turning out a lot closer that I expected.

I still want to know WHY some prefer the Halo 3 model.

Speak up!

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

I want to be able to send bullets and explosives through them.

Halo CE > Halo 3 > Halo 2

Fix the Halo 3 BR spread, plz.

Halo 2. In Halo 3, the teleporters are broken. You always face forward and it makes it incredibly easy to teleport camp; not to mention, there's no telefragging so you can just block teleporters.

...And when i am standing there, watching as the slingshot is cranked back into the shadows, a smile will bestow upon my face as I softly whisper one word..."blam...."

I'm cool with how teleporters work when you place them in the forge.

But on the default maps I'd prefer that they function the same way they did in Halo 2, rather than being able to move or delete them.

NO GROUP INVITES!!!

Teleports shouldn't re-orient player.
Instant telefragging or at least very quick one (Halo 2 t-frags were slow) needs to be enabled.

Maybe grenades could go through teleports?

Momentum needs to be kept after going in to a teleport like in Halo 3 (try this: drop down to a teleport from high, you should fly from the other end as fast as you were falling assuming there's nothing blocking the exit or you don't touch ground as that creates friction...)

Why should I be forced to face a certain direction when going into a teleporter?

Why should I be forced to face a certain direction when going into a teleporter?

I'm sure there is a reason.

Does anyone know how teleporters worked in Halo CE? It could be a nod to CE considering how different Cold Storage would play if the teleporters were changed from how they were in Chill Out.

Regardless, I still feel that the Halo 2 model gives the player more options when passing through, making gameplay more fluid, dynamic and intuitive.

Halo 1 teleporters. They were cool doors, and if you sat in them too long someone would die.

I agree that telefragging should make a return as well.

I never got to play much of CE multiplayer, can anyone enlighten me on how CE teleporters differed from the other games?

CE teleporters are like doorways

and Halo 3's teleporters don't make much sense to spit you out face first only. It makes sense that when you walk backwards into a teleporter, you should come out the same way. the part that enters first, should exit first. And on top of that, -blam!-ty portal campers wouldn't get a free assassination.

I voted Halo 2 style teleports, but personally I would prefer teleports through which you could see and shoot at players on the other side. Kindof like those in Portal, but not necessarily circular.

Thank you for that.

Also, OP has been updated for readers to better understand the differences between Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Any Halo 3 supporters care to make an argument?

I like this idea, but as a separate device. Not being able to shoot or see what's on the other side is part of the teleporters' design.

That said, a wormhole device that you can see into, similar to what's used in Portal or Prey would be a pretty cool addition. I'd make them work like shield doors though, rather than just an open doorway.

Agreed.

And rather than elaborating why you agree, you go and copy a thread that is still on the first page.

Honestly, CE teleports operate very similar to Halo 2, and I'm more concerned with gameplay than aesthetics. Having redundant or "something else" options in a poll just makes the results less accurate. Was another thread really needed?

I prefered the way Halo 2 kept you facing the same way when you went through. Didn't Halo CE telefrag you if you stayed in the teleporter door when someone else came through? I think it should still be like that to punish people for trying to camp teleporters.

Halo 2 included telefragging as well. I miss Containment.
