Subject: More Gore? Blood?

Considering that the story of Reach is brutal, (for those who have read the novel that know), on a scale from 1 to 10 how much bloodier do you think Halo: Reach will be?

I don't think it'll be any bloodier.

I would like it to be bloody as reasonable. If someone gets killed by, say, SMG fire... shouldn't look too different. If someone gets killed by a rocket launcher shot directly, they should become crimson confetti. I don't want gore, just realistic amounts of damage and effects.

I think if you got hit by a strong impact there should be a mark or something like if you got hit by a sword there should be a scar on your armor or if you got hit by a big explosion there should be a dent in your armor

Nolan is Nolan.

I feel like they showed it would be difficult to do with the engine when romeo got murked by that brute.

yeah.. i guess i got carried away, but it would be awesome to see more realistic looking blood, or bullet holes inflicted in armor or flesh

bungie has proven that a bunch of monkeys sitting in front of keyboards can randomly type out a masterpiece. the thing is, when you go to play the masterpiece, you cant help but notice all the monkey s**t smeared all over it.

it gets real old having to wait months for someone like mlg to clean off all the monkey poo.

halo 1 blood ftw. a beutiful rainbow of blood smeared on every wall after every engagement.

gore, nope.

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

lol yeah good times. Punching a body so much that the blood spurting out actually causes lag :D

The Xbox is an extremely powerful piece of hardware and I think if bungie spends time on it they can incorporate all of these features easily.

yea blood and damage but gore kinda ruins it. it would be like GOW. all the gore made the game look gross.

  • 10.28.2009 10:24 PM PDT

No, not the GoW gore, that'd be too carried away. I mean the kind of gore like that big hole that you see in Johnson's chest after he gets zapped by the Monitor.

A darker game would be nice. Marines getting limbs ripped off and what not. But I can't help thinking that this game is going to be too similar to Halo 3, but hoping the complete opposite. Halo 3 was a really fun game, but we've already done that. I would like it if the game was super serious, but turning on the IWHBYD skull will just make it bright, cheery and comical.

personally i say the more blood/gore, within realism, the better. It makes the game more fun, yet still makes it more realistic. Aswell maybe it will keep some of the 5 year olds off the game if their parents finally realize they arent old enough to play it...

I hope not. I've never seen gore of that magnitude in a game and thought, "wow, that really adds to the value of this game!"

  • 10.29.2009 7:50 PM PDT

But just think how good it would feel when you just shoot that elite that's been killing you over a hundred times, straight in the face with the shotgun, just imagine all of the blood that will make the kill feel more valuable. Well this is mostly in my view of course. =)

Yeah I think there should be more realistic(and amount) of blood but not gore. We don't want this to be a GOW gorefest. The closest game to the amount of blood I like is OF: Dragon Rising(expect the head punctures and decapitations)

Well the reason why the title says "More gore" in it is because since Halo 3 apparently had Blood and gore in it (as stated in the back of the cover) I actually meant for the gore to be more noticeable, like bullet holes in the body for example... but definitely not GOW2 gore..

  • 10.31.2009 11:15 PM PDT

I just wasted a few seconds of your life and you're never getting them back!

At its heart, Halo is not designed to be a violent or gory game. Its more about gameplay and story. Sooo...i dont really care, but its fine for me now.

No in H3 their's less blood(than H2) and the gore is the flood. You realize gore is decapitations/maiming/severing/punctures right?

Other than that, I agree with what you said about bullet holes. That would be epic(if they can pull it off right)
