This is a post from the bungie webmaster made at HBO today.

"Bungie.net is down because of a hardware failure in the datacenter. As in it is something that was beyond our control, unfortunately. That's about as detailed as I can get, but it should be fixed in the next hour or so.

Nothing changed. There was a significant hardware failure in the network between our web servers and our database servers. Therefore, the site was not working for a few hours. Sometimes things like this happens - when we find out exactly what hardware failed, we'll obviously take steps to make that area more redundant, but sometimes, you simply can't avoid things like this. Luckily, we have the same Ops guys that MSN has, so they were on top of things immediately.

Must have been MSN. My messenger was not working when b.net was down.
