I've forged quite alot since I got Halo 3 and it has been, and still is, a very useful tool when you want to modify the maps for certain gamemodes of your own etc... But when you're just able to modify the objects on map, you can't make the map entirely as you want (In my opinion). So thats why I think Bungie should make a Forge v.2 where you can aslo make landscapes of your own, and then forge the objects like in Halo 3 today.

It doesn't need to be more complicated then Farcry or Zoo tycon =p

But think about it, wouldn't it be cool to re-create the Blood Gulch from Halo 1?

Could you imagine the lag???? Far Cry 2's map editor was made one-player for a reason. If there was any terrain editing, it would have to be single player forge, and that takes the fun out of it...

1st: Fix'd :D

2nd: That is indeed a very nice idea, a bit like creating maps for Halo: Custom Edition, but without the need for 3rd party software, i.e Autodesk 3Ds Max. But still I think this would make the game a bit too big to fit on one DVD disc, ergo, Bungie would have to do like Turn 10 did with Forza 3, put the Forge Editor on a 2nd disc, which you then could be able to install on your harddrive and start from within Halo: Reach. (Provided you have enough HDD space left ofcourse, otherwise you would have to run the editor from the disc.)

But all in all, a very good idea and it would certainly bring more players to Halo: Reach and to the Halo fransiche itself.

Why would it lag?
If the Xbox 360 can run Forza 3 and it sure looks good,
why would it have a problem running a Map Editor?

Answer me that, and you'll get a cookie.

I like the idea. Especially for maps like Halo 3's High Ground. I've Been trying to make the base a decent fortress for a year and just can't seen to get it right. Sandbox was a step forward, but terrain editing would be a slipspace jump forward.
