Chapter One - Dropping into Hell

"Soldier, get your helmet on immediately! We are about to drop onto Halo! Soldier, you listening to me?"

Palmer slowly opened his eyes, still half asleep. Just before he was about to get up, a painful blow came across his face.

"Palmer, wake up and follow my orders. We don't call you an ODST for nothing! Now come on, we have some Covenant asses to kick."

Palmer put on his ODST helmet and retrieved is Battle Rifle and Shotgun. He walked into his Drop Pod and prepared to drop. Sergeant Jacobs came over to him.

"You ready, Palmer?"

"More then I'll ever be."

And that was it. His Drop Pod's door closed, and a few moments later Sergeant appeared on his Monitor.

"All right, squad. You know the plan. Once we arrive on the surface, we need to find away to get on that Covenant Cruiser. Once we get on it, we need to find the Cruiser's main power core and destroy it. Once we do that, our first mission is over. All of you guys Ready?"

"Yes Sir!" Said the squad all together.

"Then let's do this!"

The pods were released from the UNSC ship. Down they raced to the surface, like meteors falling from the sky. Palmer was nervous. He had taken multiple drop pod tests before. But this was the real deal. He was afraid that his pod might be misguided somehow and crash onto a rock or wall, and the impact of it would kill him. He focused on other things. He looked out the window of his door, and saw the surface of the forerunner artifact, Halo. Its incredible and beautiful scenery astonished him. It was like nothing he had ever seen before. It was unique and stunning. A voice came on his Chat/comm. It was Private Robby.

"Wow. Look at the scenery of this place. Its...Amazing."

Then Michael came on the Chat/comm. In his typical over confident self he said, "Screw the scenery! It's not going to be all good-looking when we start blasting bullets into the air!"

Then Sergeant joined in. "Hey, guys. Lets focus on landing, shall we?" Everybody shut up after that. They were about to land. And just what Palmer was worried about happened.

His pod landed directly on an oddly shaped rock. His head jerked sideways, hitting into the side of his Pod. The impact of the crash made him unconscious.

Chapter Two -Unfamiliar Surroundings

Palmer went back into consciousness. His head awfully hurt. He took off his helmet and put his hand on his hand, trying to ease the pain. He tried to open his pod's door, but it was jammed, and he didn't have the strength to open it from the pain. Fortunately, he saw Sergeant Jacobs come over to his pod. He tried to remove the door. He stuck his hand through the broken window of the door, got a grasp on the door, and pulled. He was able to tare off the door. Sergeant grabbed Palmer's hand and helped him up.

"You ain't going to be any help in here. C'mon, we got a job to do."

Palmer got up. His head still hurt, but he could handle it. He followed Sergeant over to the rest of the squad. Palmer gazed at the scenery of Halo. It was even more astonishing on Land. The atmosphere felt different. Everything felt different. As he was looking around, he realized that this wasn't the time for sightseeing. He did have a job to do. He took out his Battle Rifle and joined his squad in firing at the Covenant.

"Sergeant, they got two wraiths and a few ghosts. What do we do?" Asked Joey.

"Michael, you brought a Rocket Launcher with you, right?" Asked Sergeant.

"Yes, sir. I have 6 rockets to spare."

"Great! Take a position on those cliffs over there and take out those wraiths before they kill us. Hurry!"

And so he did. The two other ODST squads were on the other side of the cliff they were all on. They helped take out the Ground Support with Sergeant Jacob's squad while Michael took out the wraiths. About 30 seconds later, a rocket was fired, and they saw a big blue explosion by the Covenant stronghold.

"One Wraith down, one to go!" Said Robby.

Another Rocket was fired. This time, there wasn't a explosion. Michael missed the second wraith.

"Well, you killed some grunts and elites it looks like, but we you to destroy those Wraiths, Michael. Don't miss this time!" Sergeant stated.
"Sorry, Sergeant. I won't miss again." Michael proclaimed.

"Sergeant, two ghosts approaching us, right side!" Joey screamed.

Two Grunt-operated Ghosts came out of the corner. The squad did not have much cover, or much space to work with. But Joey had an idea. He climbed a rock near the two Ghost's position. He patiently waited as the two ghosts came closer. He was planning on hijacking one of the Ghosts without the pilots seeing him. He had to time his jump perfectly, or else he would miss and most likely be killed by the Ghosts. He was aiming to board the second Ghost. As it came closer, he prepared to jump. It finally came to a close enough distance to him, and he jumped. He timed it just right. He landed right on the front of the Ghost, and then kicked the grunt out of the Ghost, killing the grunt. He then destroyed the last ghost from behind. Joey went over to his squad and received congratulation.

"Excellent work, Joey. That was impressive." Sergeant admitted. Robby and Palmer shook their head in agreement.

With the situation of the Ghosts, they did not even realize Michael had already destroyed the last Wraith. The other ODST squads had advanced and eliminated the rest of the Covenant Forces.

Sergeant congratulated the squad on a job well done. But just as they thought there was no more Covenant left, three banshees came from behind them.

"Banshees!" Palmer screamed. Everyone dove into cover as one of the banshees shot a fuel rod canon at them.

"I got em'." Said Michael. He took out his Rocket Launcher and aimed for the banshees. He took out one, but missed the other two.

Sergeant called in for Air Support. "Captain Wagner, this is Sergeant Richard P. Jacobs. We have two Banshees hovering over us, and we don't have the firepower to take them out. Can we have some Air Support please?"

"Sergeant Richard, your request has been approved. Please wait as we send Hornets to to your location."

As they waited, another three banshees showed up. They barely had enough cover to be protected from their gunfire. "Captain, can you hurry up with the Air Support? We'll be KIA in a few minutes."

"Please wait. Approximate time of arrival will be in two minutes."

They did their best to hold off. Finally, the Hornets arrived. The ODST squad watched as their men destroyed the banshees with ease.
"Thank you, Pilot A-1334P. You saved our ass's!" Said Sergeant.

"No problem, sir!" Said the pilot of one of the Hornets. A Pelican showed up with a warthog.

"That Covenant Cruiser is not too far away. About 4 to 5 miles. We got a warthog for you. Sure can make it a lot quicker." Said the pilot of the Pelican.

"Thank you, we needed it." Said Sergeant.

"You know our motto. We deliver!"
