Wow, that sucked. Oh well let's try again.
So far each engine has been built upon the last. There's always room to had another couple of hundred thousand lines of code to increase draw distances, poly count, texture resolution, bsp size. There really isn't much more that can be done. We've already more or less peaked poly count, all thats left to do is up the ante on lighting, shaders, etc.
