Subject: Halo 2 running really BAD

I have a new PC and I am having a TON of problems with Halo 2 PC. I can run Halo 1 just fin with everything turned on.

First issue: When starting Halo 2 the opening logo showing the Microsoft Game Studios logo and Bungie logo are flickering on and off really fast.

Seconded issue: I can not make halo 2 go full screen.

Third issue: The mouse seems to be lagging/not responding.

My specs are.
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
EVGA x58 Classified 759 Motherboard
Intel 920 CPU @ 3.7 Ghz
Zigmatek 1200 watt Power Supply
12 GB DDR3 Corsair
2x GTX 295's in SLi
Silver Stone TJ10 case
2x Seagate 640GB in RAID 0
1x Seagate 1TB
LG BluRay/HDDVD (BD-RW drive)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

The only thing I might be able to help you with is the mouse issue. Something in the input code in Halo 2 Vista messes up when your frame rate goes too high. V-sync would help this, but won't work when the game is windowed. I have a "FPS Limiter" program I found on the net, so if you want to try it, just PM me.

I did try that already, but that apparently only works on full screen (which I cant get to).

the mouse issue is part of the game sorry...

what monitor do you have?

please turn off SLI

Disabling SLi only stops the blinking effect when starting the game.

Tried for force the game to use frame sync, does not work.

forced the game to use only one GPU, does not work.

Starting to pull my hair out.

I am able to play if I use a xbox 360 controller, odd.

Try using this to limit the FPS to like 30 or 60.

Hey captain seriously you don't have to sacrifice yourself to kill the scarab. Their actually pretty easy to kill. You just have to jump in the back and shoot this little light. Remember captain from training where they showed us how to kill it? Captain... CAPTAIN... oh god damn it seriously?

I have a crappy laptop and I cant run it well. You sir have a super computer and you cant run it well either. My conclusion is Halo 2 vista is teh suck.

Other than the full screen thing because of windows 7 I don't have any advice sorry.

Yeah h2v is a really poorly done port. If you bought it recently, you should try to return it. It's really not even worth 10 bucks imo. Bungie allowed uber failure on this game.

They sure did. I'm not even sure if Microsoft even has coders anymore. They couldn't even write working code for interface devices. :(

I like the word "even" or something.

Forcing it to run at 30 FPS seems to have fixed the mouse problem, thank you.

I just wish the didn't abandon this game and updated it to WORK!!! If any system should run this game at full spec it should be mine.

Yep, you're right. I'm making my personal stand by not giving Microsoft any more money. I sold my Xbox 360, cancelled Live, and never bothered with ODST. I'm sorry Halo 2 doesn't work better, but at least it's playable for you now. I hope you don't run into the server browser bug if you try to play online.

I think I will just get the achievements and then put the game back on the shelve to collect dust until the world ends.

I really hope they don't fudge up Halo 3 PC.

any recommended settings to set the FPS to the game feels like its running a billion miles per hour.

This is the average H2 Fanboy.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Try running the game in Vista SP2 compatibility mode, first go to C/Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Game Studios (or something like that)/Halo 2/. Make a shortcut to Halo2.exe, and set it to run in Windows Vista SP2 compatability mode.

Also, go into your nvidia control panel, set it to advanced, and where it says the settings for individual apps, add Halo 2 and force v-sync on. If that doesnt work use FPSLimiter, as those will reduce your FPS so it doesnt mouse lag.

My game doesn't run in full screen either. At first it seemed to be because I was running it on laptop but now it seems like it's the games fault.
