It is a waste of energy? I was betrayed twice in one game. By shotgun. No "accidental" means. I betrayed the dumb ass ONCE. By GRENADE. Boot up the ass.

sorry, I just thought it was going to be something long and epic about some new thing, although your point has now been validated, so I take back the "waste of energy" statement, you still made me laugh though

I am glad.

But really Bungie...maybe you should get on that. Like now.

why don't they just turn off friendly firer or on can't remember which

You mean off. I don't know. It's really retarded. I was in Living Dead this week. I hop on a turret. Some moron who couldn't get to it fast enough betrayed me. No boot prompt whatsoever. So I went up and shotgunned him in the face and got booted instantly.

Why so we cant boot people like you that grief other players? Constantly..?

No. Just no.

Its good the way it is.

Not only is this not the greatest idea ever for Reach, but it is a terrible idea in general. Misleading title = lock.

It's too vague to be terribble. In fact, he's right in the money.

Too many times have abandoned ghosts flown into teammates and got me kicked.

The boot system is made up of recorded data of previously played games and your behavior in these games. If you've played 20 games in the past day, and out of those 20 games, you've either been kicked or quit out of half or more of them, the next time you betray someone the boot prompt will pop up for them.

So if you "accidentally" kill someone with a ghost, but youve betrayed people 11 out of the last 20 games and have been booted, that person will have the chance to kick you again. Its based on patterns of behavior. If you only ever "accidentally" betray people, you dont have to worry about this.

The only people who ever complain about the boot system are people who always betray people and then get kicked as a result of it. Either dont betray people, or if they do it to you first.. let it go, or wait til they do it again.. sometimes a 3rd time is necessary if they hardly ever commit the crime.. then you can boot them.

PM from Equus Asinus: "Calling me a moron for somthing wich you have no part in is stupid. Maybe if you used proper grammer I would feel you as a threat. But, I think you owe me an apology."

The boot system seriously needs an overhaul. I don't care how 'correct' or 'balanced' Bungie claims it to be, it still sucks. And the majority of the community recognizes that.

Bluntness aside, the OP is right.

The OP is right that this is "The Greatest Idea Ever for Reach"???

OR

That you agree they need to change the boot system?

Greatest idea ever? No, but neither was your decision to respond with nonsense such a great idea either.

Oh btw, read, extrapolate, analyze. You're on this forum, figure it out. And if it was sarcasm then you need an editor.

I believe my response to how the "boot system" works was far from nonsense. I believe you said something about "reading" didnt you?

The reason why they won't turn off friendly fire is because it would make it easy to just fire rockets anywhere without fear of betrayal, or stick a teammate and have him/her run into a room full of enemies. It makes the game more tactical when you have to take into account that you can injure your teammates.

The betrayal system works fine (except for when playing regular matchmaking after a bunch of Grifball). It goes by how often you've betrayed recently. The more you've betrayed in your last X games, the more easily you are booted. When the guy with a shotgun killed you twice, he might not have betrayed anyone else recently. But you might've had a few accidental betrayals in your last X games, so you were booted in only one betrayal.

You can't expect the game to know whether or not you were betrayed accidentally or purposely; it's impossible. The system they use now is the most effective they can get.

No its not.

I have proof, the people don't like it. The as good as it gets excuse, at least for this topic, is not justifiable.

Is it a system? Yes. Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? No. Therefore, it needs a fix. Overhaul? Not necessarily. But it needs fixing. Why?

Back to the people; because they want it.

Interesting I should find you here, homeboy. Still agitated that I disproved of your hip hop in Reach idea? Get over it.

Anyway, like I said, the boot system needs a FIX. Not an entire overhaul. It works for me sometimes, but I've had enough of getting betrayed for weapons, and then, when I don't even mean to kill the jackass that betrayed me (read as: he walks into one of my plasmas like an idiot), he gets the prompt to boot me INSTANTLY. I agree with the behavior idea. If you never betray then betray once, you shouldn't get booted. But what happens when that person betrays THREE times in ONE game. I think that's a little off.

It should be a system of Forgive and Punish (I forget what game it was in.) You can choose to forgive someone if they kill you (by accident, of course), but you can punish someone if they betray you on purpose. Three "punishes" equals a boot. It would solve the problem of sometimes being able to boot somebody and sometimes not being able to boot somebody and not having a computer system determine it.

Why So Serious?

The boot system is definately something that needs re-working.
