In this weeks updated in the Reach question segment Lars Bakken is quoted as saying "In a takehome playtest we're lucky to get 80 people together to play on a Wednesday night." Does this mean Reach will the matchmaking battles be huge your thoughts.

Not sure but that will be vary lagy and take along time to find people.

No, it just means 80 people are testing it. MM stresses enough with 8v8, I think 40v40 is out of the question.

I don't think they are going to have a 40 vs 40 matchmaking. Lag would be of the charts...

What caught my attention the most was:

So it ws something completely new! I seriously can't wait to see what Bungie is making!

I certainly hope not. We've seen the obnoxious amount of bs that comes out of a Halo 3 4v4. 40v40 would be unplayable by anyone except the host.

Make a 12 vs 12 with a gametype like battle field bad company the action keeps gathering at key points 16vs16 would still do it but i think every thing over that is a bloody mess with nade spamming and -blam!- spawnpoints.

Halo fighting gameplay and battlefield map gameplay. So you can have really big maps in the goldrush mode and a the more smaller map for TDM and territories.

So that's how it is. You all ought to know better than that.

Such a large match would cause a lot of connection problems. Also you need a very large map to make it work so we don't spawn on top of each other.

Although if they could make it work, it would be pretty epic.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

MM stresses enough with 8v8, I think 40v40 is out of the question.
Larger teams also cheapens each player's experience. With 40 people on your team, its very easy for a player to have little to no effect on the battle.
