Subject: Bungie! Bring CLANS back PLEASE!

wanna join an awesome clan? check us out at....
xiled gaming community

As many of us older players can remember Clans in Halo 2. Now as far far as I can remember, there were no down sides to implementing clans in to Halo 2. It was a VERY popular concept, and there were matchmaking game types that were very fun for clan matches! There was a large collective unified groan when everyone a lot of people found out there would be no clan system in Halo 3.

I know there will be some ignorant people that come in here and flame this thread. Here is my response. If you don't like clans, don't join one!

Bottom line! Please bring clans back for Halo Reach!

i know, i don't want a gazillion clan members on my friends list. maybe it could just be an option, for those poor, clanless souls.

I agree. Plus, those of us in very large clans have a lot easier of a time, and can get to know a lot more people. It is a lot more fun for everyone! Simple: Clans=more people to game with

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I would rather have a friends list for each game I play, with a universal friends list across games, like the friends list now.

So you suffice with 100 friends. Not all of us do though.

Thanks for the laugh, but anyways, you're looking back at Clans from Halo 2 with rose-tinted glasses.

Here's what I remember about Clans from Halo 2:

1) A lot of people used them just as a second friends list.

2) The Clan Match playlists in Halo 2 were very unpopular, they had very low populations, and thus they were ultimately removed.

3) Back when there was a ranked Clan match playlist, higher ranked players would constantly disband their clans and make new ones, in order to prey on lower ranked players.

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

Useful but not necessary.

I agree the matches were flawed, but at least you could have a clan match just by pressing a button. All this can be fixed with thought. Your post shows that you do actually have interest in clans. So let's hold to that.

I wish they would, but I think clans had to do something with regular Xbl.

Clans is a pointless feature. It would cause even more possible lag and latency in games with say, someone has 100 friends and it's always regulating the info of it, as long as that person is online. Not only that but I do think party chat connections with at least more than 3 people may also cause lag during the game. If clans were to brought back where they have over 100 friends, let's not go on any further than there.

Actually there was a downside to Clans.

It was very easy to trick the system when joining a clan and make the clan think you made it. When this was used right, a player could join a clan such as (Fail) KSI and disban the entire clan.

However I think it would be cool to have clans put on the the Xbox instead of just in Halo. Where you could have groups for games on your dashboard and they would be marked according to games. IE: Halo 3 Clan (Name), Call of Duty 139725 Clan (Name) and so on.

If they did this each game could have a clan implemented system such as match making and add in a clan rank.

Agreed.

As leader of "The Milky Pirates" (as of 4 years ago...) I think it would be great.

Clan only playlists were a tad annoying though.

Clans on the dashboard would be amazing, but microsoft has never expressed interest in creating clans for the dashboard.

I am in Xiled Gaming Community. It has many clans. Any sort of clan system would make things a lot easier for us. :) We can manage without them though, have for 2 years.

Alot of clans that have moved from Halo 2 to Halo 3 make a Silver Xbox Live account with the clan name. It basicly works in the same way, just add your clan members only. But it would be better for Dashboard clans as i callit.

Ive been with the same small clan since the start of halo 2.

Clan support really was the biggest thing missing from Halo 3.

Both points valid. Yes I do use silver tags...yes there were bigger issues. The point of the thread was...wouldn't it be nice if bungie just brought clans back? I know there are a lot of half hitched ways around imitating a Halo 2 clans, but I would rather bungie bring back one of the cooler features of Halo 2.

I didn't say that.

I said that I wanted a friends list dedicated to each game I play, where people I meet in that game that I want as friends are listed.

And on top of that, I would have a friends list that is overarching, for friends that I have that I play multiple games with.

Not really. It is too easy to abuse it, by simply creating a new Clan every so often to reset their ranks and very few people used the Clan system in Halo 2.

Rawr Im a dino!

I think everyone shouldnt join a clan because you have to follow rules on a videogame. IF anything they should ban them but, thats just my opinion.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

I think it'd work somewhat if you had to create a group on Bnet so you could integrate clan stats and a forum and what not.

The RvB clan I'm in has their own website, but we are interested in doing matches and stuff like that. I wouldn't mind seeing clans return, but I wouldn't tear up if it doesn't come back either.

Canada is America done right

i remember how fun clan battles were.
i was a staff seargent on the red retaliation clan. me and my friends would get to get together and wait to be put into one of the bettles against are apposing clan the evil "Blue retaliation". we would fight over maps which were called terretories, cities, and mother land depending on how big it was.
we had our own website and everything and you had to be active cause if you weren't than you'd be kicked out of the clan.

  • 10.31.2009 10:53 AM PDT

The reason clans were cut from Halo 2 was that there were little to NO clan games. That's because it was hard to actually get in a clan that's active.

Now, we got hundreds of websites dedicated to Halo, we have groups that make their own game nights, and people even use silver accounts to make their own clans! I am certain that the playlist will be active if Bungie adds it to Reach.
