My third montage!

I know exactly what your referring to. Your shooting someone one of their teammates walks between you and them, dragging your reticule with you and you have to fight with the game to drag it off of them and back to the person you were originally shooting. It is annoying but I don't have it happen that often.

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

That never happens to me. Lern2ayme and compensate.

Try killing an ally in a custom game. That's having no auto aim. It's pretty damn hard. Can you imagine playing like that all the time?

Are you elite?? join Elites of War

So from reading all this I learned

-you suck if you can't aim with auto aim
-you suck if you can't aim without auto aim

Why not just have an option to turn auto aim off? (just like all the other options we have such as to switch from normal to boxer, or from a 5 to 8 sensitivity, toggle crouch, etc)

  • 10.31.2009 9:18 PM PDT

If this were a PC shooter, I'd agree, but Halo Reach isn't a PC shooter.
Without auto-aim, more people would miss with precision weapons, and thus would use more automatic weapons and spray more often in order to compensate for the controller's lack in accuracy.

Maybe just the option to turn it off.....

  • 10.31.2009 9:40 PM PDT

I only just realised this existed

I'm pretty sure there is a way you can remove it yourself, look in the dashboard; general settings/controls.

lol, those two points pretty much sums it up about the thread. I think toggling it would be for the best but then that would be the topic of flame wars in this forum come its release.

"Way to use auto-aim BK" (probably would be shortened to "auto-noobs")

My prediction is made.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

That's not a common event, but it is annoying. There are easy ways to solve it. The BR is honestly a larger problem.

I just wasted a few seconds of your life and you're never getting them back!

Really, i have absolutely no problem with the auto-aim. Sure, sometimes its annoying when people overlap in front of you and screw up your aim, but it isnt much of a problem. It does stop the sniper from being an overpowered sniper-shotgun, after all.

  • 10.31.2009 11:21 PM PDT

Isn't there an option to remove auto-aim in the Customization Menu. (It's been a while since I've changed settings, I <3 my currents.)

For me I think auto aim stuffs up more shots that helps! In Halo CE when there was almost no auto aim I could do quite well with no scoping and now in Halo 3 it gets stuffed up by auto aim.

  • 11.01.2009 2:24 AM PDT

blame stosh!

ummmm, auto aim is pretty much the same as aim-bot, its called aim-assist, i agree about there being to much aim-assist, thats why i almost stopped playing halo 3 online and started playing cod 4 instead, also because of the pistol/magnum being worthless.

no, its not throw of my aim, try this with your own game
do the same situation i put on, and u would know how fraustrating it is.

It does not throwoff my aim, changes my aim even if u dont want it to.

I can't recall a single instance of my BR aim being pulled away from a kill.

I do recall a hilarious instance of me about to sp'laser a Banshee only to have an enemy Mongoose soar right through my crosshairs pulling my aim away from the Banshee at the last second (the Mongoose did not survive by the way).

But that would be the only time auto-aim screwed me up, I think that zombie is right and you should just get better.

I've heard this complaint before and never really thought much of it, mainly because I could not recall it happening to me....untill today.

I was playing a real gritty game on Narrows against a team that knew thier stuff, so every shot counted. This happened twice that game on the top bridge where eveyone is jumping/throwing and dodging jades and 'peek' shooting, I was in a BR. fight with one guy Top when his teammate comes running from Bottom and jumps across my line of sight and this literally 'dragged' my BR off the guy I was engaged with.......a big deal? Idk, irritating. Most definately.

...And when i am standing there, watching as the slingshot is cranked back into the shadows, a smile will bestow upon my face as I softly whisper one word..."blam...."

i HATE Auto Aim!

7even is Darker

What kind of an -blam!- teammate runs in the middle of a BR duel and doesn't help out his teammate?

  • 11.01.2009 7:51 AM PDT

Friendly until Fired upon

Get better don't blame the people blame yourself for not being able to target a guy. If you're decent to good you could avoid all of that no sweat. And removing the auto aim makes it harder for those who just got into halo making it too hard for them to get into the game and they just quit.

Clearly because the desktop uses a 3 prong plug and a laptop uses a 2 prong plug, the microwave will fill your car with tostitos better

Agreed, autoaim is a bit of a problem, although really for no reason that you listed. That is just an example of you sucking dick.

I never understood why there is autoaim in a game that requires you to lead your shots. That makes absolutely 0 sense to me. I do think autoaim is needed just because analog sticks are far harder than say a mouse to be accurate with. The majority of H3 players suck at aiming precision weapons already, taking out autoaim completely would be a disaster.

I would rather see a decrease in bullet magnetism, or a complete removal of that. A slight lessening of auto aim along in conjunction with the removal of bullet magnetism would be nice IMO.

the only time autoaim is noticable is when a ghost or vehicle go across u while shooting another enemy. its not like other game when u get the reticle an inch from the target it goes right to it.

No programmer can pick up a TV remote without thinking what it would take to add a stun gun. [...] Their motto is 'if it ain't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet

or possible a better fix would be to disable autoaim if you are aiming at an enemy player.

here is how this system works. all of the time in game there is a invisible line or vector going out of the tip of your gun. this technique in games is called ray casting. it would be more than easy to disable autoaim is this vector is already touching another enemy player

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Here is an experiment for you to understand exactly what no AA means. Go into a custom game with some friends. All of you join the same team, and then start a game and play like it is FFA. That is what Halo would play like with absolutely no aim assist.

A pad has a basic issue with aiming - its not accurate. AA counters this problem. Some games do this well (Halo 3), others do it poorly (Halo 2). But in the end it is a necessity for a console shooter.
Your confusing Bullet Magnetism with auto aim. They are both completely diffirent things.

Bullet Magnetism is what you are describing, what the OP is describing is the classic auto aim which causes your reticule or gun to track an oponnent when they are infront of you.

i have never had that problem, the auto aim isnt very sensitive anyway so you can just move the target back on the person you were killing if someone else gets in the way and also the people that have tried killing their team mates will understand what im about to say, because obviously theres no auto aim on your own team when you try and melee them you always miss and its really hard to shoot them so if there was no auto aim it would be ridiculous, 1 on 1 battles would go on for ever, it would be like when you have to guys with snipers trying to kill each other at close range.
