Subject: Sprint!

What do people think about having a sprinting option in halo but yet you cant shoot or your weapon is less accurate?

  • 10.31.2009 3:56 PM PDT

i think its a good idea. sprint can run a limited distance and while running the the gun would be extremely inaccurate since your pretty much power running.

  • 10.31.2009 3:57 PM PDT

you are already running. why would a seven foot, half ton super soldier with increadiable strength, wearing a computer guided suit have difficulty holding a futuristic gun steady while running at top speed?

Because it's hard.

If you want to see the MC die, play Legendary. If you want to see MC finish the fight, play Halo 3. If you want to see MC finish the fight by dieing, why did you waste six years when you could have done it yourself right now?

Some ideas from other games would work in Halo, but I'm not sure about this one. Next thing you're gonna tell us is we need a cover system.

They're actually not running. In gameplay they only go as fast as they can while holding their gun steady.

If they were to run flat-out they wouldn't be able to hold their weapon steady.

Spartans can run at 55mph so i've heard, but I know how ridiculous it would be to put that in the games. I agree with the option to sprint. Maybe it be like a 50% speed increase.

I don't think they sprint without moving their arms. In fact, I don't think anybody sprints without moving their arms.

ill go look at a spartan running in theatre mode to see if they are running. running is defined as have both feet off of the ground for bried periods of time. maybe i will find out that spartans are just power walking.

anyways, as i said a supersoldier wearing a computer guided suit wouldnt have trouble holding a gun while running. that would be one of the supposed benifits of being a supersoldier.

Hey guys? Two words. Unreal Tournament.

That's what this game would turn into if they could run that fast. And its not like they can't already run that fast. Just adjust the settings in customs. Great for random screwing around with friends.

It's not actually computer guided, it just works on physical force amplification.

But yes they can move faster while holding their weapon steady than the average soldier but they can't run full out while doing so.

On a side note, stand up right now and try to run without bending your knees. It's -blam!- impossible!

  • 10.31.2009 4:20 PM PDT

i know it multiplies there strength. i read that in one of the halo books. but dont you think such an advanced suit would have a computer that helps moniter and guide the suit that the spartans are encased in? spartans move the armor and the armor moves them.

The suits computing does handle secondary stuff like internal pressure and shielding but the actual force amplification is purely physical cause and effect.

Even if it wasn't, humans simply aren't engineered to hold their upper body steady while running as fast as they can. It's not physically possible for us to do both at the same time no matter how much training, conditioning, or mechanical aid.

I didn't go very fast and I'm sure I looked like a complete idiot.
