Subject: The future HALO experience

I have given this some thought and I wanted to throw it out to the community. I have always thought with the advent of multiplayer and extra stuff developers are always cramming into games I wish the following would be implemented.

First I realize that this idea has the potential to cost the community more than a $60 game.

I would like Bungie to to release three separate disks.

Halo: "what ever title they want" the complete campaign.
the complete campaign would be the campaign that we all want and desire. this is to be read "longer, better, and more engrossing"

Halo: The complete multiplayer experience.
this disk would focus on solely the multiplayer, including a solid number of initial maps to do battle on at launch. Limit map packs to one or two but make them sooner and include at least 5 new maps.

Halo: the complete forge experience.
this disk holds the keys to forge but more robust. Give us a disk that pops into the PC and has some legit map making tools. then let us port our creations to the xbox.

Now I would hope we could find a way to make each of the disks significantly cheeper than $60. It would let people buy what they want and not have things they don't. It would improve everything in each of the respective areas.

Bungie could then begin to stagger disk releases so that every other year we get something new to look forward to rather than every 3 to 4 years between games.

Let me know what you think. Am i nuts?

Enough with the messages,
I don't want to join your stupid groups.

I think that it could be a decent idea, however, it would be extremely expensive, along with the fact that they would need a lot more time to make three full discs of content.

If you want to see the MC die, play Legendary. If you want to see MC finish the fight, play Halo 3. If you want to see MC finish the fight by dieing, why did you waste six years when you could have done it yourself right now?

3 DISKS?! THIS ISN'T WOW!

The sooner the game industry switches over to all online distribution, the better. No more packaging or having to rely on disks you can't go back and change later. And best of all, no limitation on how large your game can actually be.

Yea, I completely agree. I just think Halo has gotten too big for one disk with all the stuff they are trying to do. Split it up and do a better job. I know I'm not the only one who wishes the campaign was longer/with more awesomesauce.

I wish I was still legendary.

...HDD space, bandwidth limitations. In NZ the maximum affordable plan is about 20 gigs a month. I'm not wasting all of that JUST to play ONE game. And given the size of HDDs, I would much rather see tray and play becoming a reality.

I like the way you think. I would like the experience to be split up all the same, disks or online distribution.

Iffy. I dunno. Doesn't seem that realistic (especially for Reach). Sorry.

  • user homepage:

its a good idea but it has its problems
-how much would each disk cost?
-if it did happen the release date might get pushed back so that they can make enough copies
-people wouldn't want to buy it because they think that the disks should be together
-people would think that they are overpriced
-people would have to switch disks to go from campaing to multiplayer to forge.....

and i dont care how much the game costs because i already have 76 dollars saved up for Halo:Reach just in case there is a mythic edition or something like that
