Feet First Into Hell

If there were classes most games would end up just having loads of power weapons such as snipers or rockets.

I would prefer it if you all started with the same weapons like in all the other halo games with guns such as AR's and BR's so then it would be equal.

Also then when you do pick up a power weapon you will actually have an advantage where in a class game you wouldn't.

If it was a class game though I think in Matchmaking it would need limits for particular weapons. E.G. If it was a 10 v 10 only two sniper spaces per team and one Heavy weapons space.

I blame CoD

I think Halo has the best weapon system ever, because everyone are equal, of course it ends up with people betraying, but if the penality was instant death for obius betrayals, then the betrayer wont earn anything on betraying.

the penality should increase after each betrayal...

My Bungiepedia Article | My Halo Reach Service Record | The Mile High Club - For Bad Company 2, Halo, and CoD!

Nyan nyan, nyan nyan, ni hao nyan! Gorgeous, delicious, deculture!

For a class based system, all that would need to be done for the power weapons would be to balance them in some way so that they are equal to the other weapons.

Or what if the classes only start with normal weapons, and you can still find the power weapons (and some normal weapons) laying around the map, in a mix of the classic Halo system and the class system?

join the:
ninja acadame
the last of the warriors

well, heavy weapons would be easy [just look at CoD, they're perk based and have like 2 shots] and sniper is something that requires skill to use, i'm more worried about energy sword, but i guess you could put that in with the heavy weapons too

Corn, Oil, and Wine... We need more wine...

Works fine in Battle field, Battle front, COD, and Team Fortress. Why not have a proven system in Halo?

  • 11.01.2009 5:52 AM PDT

simple solution, no classes at all

  • 11.01.2009 6:04 AM PDT

TRU7H. CARNAGE. BUNGIE

i think it is best without classes but if there wuold have to classes how about this:
you can choose between elite and spartan and they would have different weapons and there would still be FULL weapon pickup

Because it's not needed for Halo and obviously not very original.

No video game is original, they all follow the basic principal of clicking buttons. The only "original" game is this one game that tells you not to touch anything, forever. I love that one, it's somewhere on the internet, look it up or something...

Technically you had classes in ODST but it was just part of the plot line and character development. It would be geared more towards Halo being a realistic shooter than a stylized one. I wouldn't mind seeing classes as long as I could edit them.

I object to classes because for example if you spawn with rockets you will have an unfair advantage, so then Bungie will have to lower the power of power weapons and the game will end up with unrealistic and boring 'Power Weapons'

You have to realize OP that this is the stage of the game where we don't have a lot of real info, so people fill the forum with conjecture and "cool" ideas. Once we actually get real info, we're gonna stop seeing these kind of ideas, because they'll be impractical. It's happened for every Halo I remember, crazy brainstorming that doesn't go anywhere.

What if have a small list of weapons at 1st. But if you what a new gun (except power weapons) you need to end a game, alive with the gun in your hand.

I posted this in another thread a while back but anyway...

IF Halo Reach does have classes (i hope not) it will be like this:

You wouldn't play as a "Class" in MM, you would play as one of the Spartans in the campaign, such as John, Fred, Kelly, Linda, Sam, James etc.

Each Character would have its own attributes, This makes a lot more sense in the Halo universe, because Spartans didn't have Classes, But each one was better at certain things than others.

OR.... Bungie will make MM sorta like a RPG, not leveling up thing, but let you make your own Spartan & Choose your Stats.
However I think that may be too much like COD for Bungie's taste.

Because most of the people who played Halo 1, 2 and 3 got tired of the same run and gun style gameplay and they want a new addition for Multiplayer for the Halo series, I think.

NOO! your thought is wrong.
Halo is Halo, there is already enough games that aren't Halo, There is not enough that IS.

Actually his thought is right. I definately want new MM and classes would be perfect. ^I really like that idea with choosing different stats like RPG-style

A lot of people seem to think that class-based multiplayer is inherently better than traditional multiplayer.

They are of course incorrect, and these days it seems like every shooter is embracing classes to some degree. As we go forward it seems more and more like Halo will stand out the most be staying the same Halo.

Not that I have anything against class-based multiplayer, I've played my fair share of Team Fortress 2, I just believe that Halo should not become class-based. I like traditional style too and like I said before, it seems like Halo is the only franchise staying traditional.

exactly,

What would happen if Reach really did have a class-based system? It would be the same as almost every other FPS. What's the point in that? Why don't we just wait and see what happens? The beta shouldn't be more than a month or two away. Besides, nothing we say now will change what they're making.

I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

We don't necessarily want it, we just expect Christian Allen to do what he does best.
