hey!I know what you can do.Learn how to use the br and stop crying about how it's a sucky gun.I get out AR when I use the BR sometimes.I just don't understand you people.

Nice 8 in mlg.

I have lower. >.< Don't play MLG much.

He's calling out low ranks for being bad. I'm calling him out for being bad. He obviously cares enough about rank to get a 50, but he loses on an 8 in mlg. Scrub much?

I am one of few people who play competitively that would like both sides to find a compromise. Its people like him that ruin my arguement.

I never said anything about low ranks being bad.I'm just saying that the BR is fine the way it is.I don't really care for MLG more into team snipers

Well, it would make it so that the 5th shot kills at the same time as an AR which would make them semi-equal weapons.

Will you horrible players shut up. Jesus just because you suck doesnt mean bungie should warp their games all around so that you can have a chance to not completely blow.

Weapons that take no skill or thought should not be as effective as weapons that have skill gaps and learning curves, it defeats the entire point of the game.

Other than balance in MP There really is no issue with the BR Game play wise, It is the games "assault rifle" mid ranged, good mag size, and high rate of fire.

the Balance problem with the BR, Magnum, and Carbine is "head-shot ability" In halo 3 few weapons do a good amount of armor damage this list includs the AR, Plasma rifle, spiker, SMG and, Plasma pistol. so the only way to beat a head shot weapon you have to melee melee, bungie figured the Melee power balanced the Head shot, but in game play its far more effective just to shoot you target AS IT SHOULD BE.

I would personally like every weapon to kill upon head-shots but the argument against It is game play would be random.

And I would like to see the AR be the games AR not the BR

Again, checks and balances. Heavy weapons would have less ammo, more reload time, etc., while smaller weapons have more ammo, less reload time. When heavy weapons have more ammo and less respawn time, nothing works out right.

Exactly. The either needs to cease being a powerful gun, or cease being versatile. So either minimize the damage to quell the clip and map placement or fix the opposite factors and remove the high number of spawn points for the gun and lower the spawn rate/clip size making it more akin to a power weapon.

I have a even better solution! The BR we use is the mark 2 BR, and the mark 1 BR has no scope, but fires a 3 round burst so it is the same. Putting the mark 1 in reach would make it not overused.

Or just accept that halo has always been the same and has always been very popular because of it. Completely changing the balance of the game because some people that suck at the game are butthurt makes no sense.

Theres no way I would play this game if it wasnt centered on a ranged headshot capable weapon that encourages teamwork and strafing gameplay with a skill gap.

The most ignorant comment ever and I am really tired of seeing it. It is funny how having your gamertag unlinked can pull out all the morons to start talking crap about how people suck with the BR so they don't want it. I played a game of SWAT last night on Halo 2. I had 20 kills, no one else on my team had over 8. I play Halo 3 and many a time my tool of destruction is the BR. Does this mean I have to like the weapon? Hell -blam!- no.

And your "skill" gap is a joke, since the BR is entirely based on who's lucky enough to have latency grant them with the blessing of having all three shots from all four bursts land. Most BR battles don't come down to who is better, but who has better luck with the BR's nasty spread. Halo 3's slower walking speed already makes the BR a cinch to aim with.

The gun isn't all that "skillful" since it is a crutch for people who don't understand that Halo is not about aiming only. It is good at most everything, so you people won't put it down for anything else. Why? Because the gun has a simple function for you to grasp: Shoot at that guy. Sure, some of you mix it up with grenades and melee, but honestly the BR does nothing more than what shooters have been doing for ages. Strafing and headshots. Any moron who has played an FPS for more than 3 months can understand this concept and probably perform it fairly well. You are fooling yourselves if you think something most FPS players can do in their sleep should be the determining factor of the game.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

I really have to disagree about the BR being overpowered, because in my eyes it is. It's a long-range rifle with high accuracy, high damage, lots of ammo, and ease of use. I've played Halo since '04, and I've used the BR a lot. It is definitely the one of the most powerful weapon in all of the Halo games excluding the Halo: CE pistol.

One of the reasons I think the BR is overpowered is because it's so versatile that it has no weaknesses. It's good on all maps, including the smaller ones like Heretic and Guardian. On larger maps like Avalanche and Valhalla, not having one means you will die. It instantly obliterates players without or with very low shields, and a frag grenade would wipe out their shields anyway. It quickly incapacitates opponents, even if they're using a weapon like the needler or rocket launcher. Also headshots aren't that hard to get, as I have plenty. Weapons like the BR, the Magnum and Carbine, actually suck in comparison.

Okay, I'm not whining that I suck with it, I've had to have it a lot, but my point is that I HAVE to use it. I looked up the definition of battle rifles on Wikipedia, and it contradicts what the Battle Rifle is to Halo. "The battle rifle's power and long-range accuracy are intended to engage targets at long distances, but this comes with a trade-off of length and weight that make it relatively cumbersome in close-quarter combat." The BR is a powerful close-range weapon, beating the AR in duels at all times. People who whine about the AR are idiots, since the BR is 1000x better and the AR is simply being used as it was meant to be, a close-range weapon. If the BR was weaker when it came to being in close-range fights, then I'd have no problem with it. You could spawn with ARs and Magnums on small maps, ARs and BRs on larger maps.

Maybe if the BR was slower inbetween bursts then it'd be more balanced, I don't know. All I'm saying is the BR is overused because it's overpowered.

Yes, in Halo CE the pistol would average a 4-5 shot kill despite being capable of a 3 shot kill. Even the pros couldn't get a TSK consistently. That is a skill based gun.

its skill gap might be small, but its all relative. In comparison to the other guns in this game its skill gap is as big as the grand canyon.

People dont put it down because they have no other options. Its either PWs or CQC spray weapons. Why would you ever want to pick up a weapon that will inevitably place you in random melee battles? Anyone with half a brain will try to stay as far away from H3 melee as possible and hte BR does this.

I loved HCE, why? Because it was fun to get into mid range pistol battles but it was also fun to get into close range plasma rifel melee battles.Because melee actually had a skill gap and was fun and took thought.

I find it hilarious that everyone blames the BR for H3's "variety" problems when in reality the BR is the only gameplay element besides the PWs that provide any kind of dynamic gameplay. Sorry but spray spray auto lock melee is not fun or "variety".

I never really had a chance to play Halo: CE's MP with my friends, but I did play a bit of Halo PC. From what I saw, the Pistol was hard to aim up close and the AR, shotgun, and PR would chew it up. That was more fair, despite the pistol being so great at longer ranges.

i have had a game when almost no one was using the BR i it was one of the funnest games i had if it was't for a person taking the rocket and the sniper and trying to sporen kill us

Good for you, judging by your literary skills youd be entertained by a flashlight to though.
