Ok well I think we can assume that Reach will have much larger, much more detailed environments. With all the destruction, there will be toppled structures and other crazy stuff that would be like a playground to an agile, athletic Spartan right? So why not be able to maneuver through the environment like a Spartan actually would?

I just got to play a little of the game inFamous and experienced all the awesome acrobatic moves used to get up buildings and to dispatch of enemies. You are able to shoot while hanging from things and you are able to jump and grab on to pretty much every viable handold.

Although this would be totally new for Halo, I think it could work. Imagine three spartans on top of a tall building, ready to fight but not knowing where the enemy is coming from. Another spartan is scaling the side, but not visible to the three. He jumps and flips up windows and poles to the top where, hanging off the edge, takes them out with a pistol shot to the head of each of them.

It would look so epic with this kind of movement, and dynamic gameplay. The game could be more stealthy as some want, and even more fast-paced and exciting.

Now, if you have played inFamous, you will really understand what I mean, but I think Bungie could make it even better and smoother.

Smaller weapons that only take one hand would finally be useful as with hanging to a pipe or edge or anything with one hand and shooting with the other.

This is just an idea so tell me what you think =)

*Someone said this is also kind of like Assassin's Creed (which I havent played)*

No, simply because, it wpuld change halo. halo is how it is. you hold your gun. you dont sprint. you dont jump through poles.

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

"I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence."

NO CUZ THIS ISNT INHALO!!

And now that stupid argument is out of the way...

Yes, I think you have a really good point. If we're in control of a Spartan, we should really be in control!

The Halo 3 Martyrdom

It's a cool idea, but then all the little kids would complain because it requires pressing more than three buttons.

Although it would be cool, I wouldn't like to see too much of a change. Maybe a few things to make it more realistic.

  • 11.01.2009 12:09 PM PDT

i dont think it would work, and even if it was possible to do this, not many people would i dont think, too difficult.
Save this stuff for the cutscenes. Cool; yes, want it; no, not really

It would be cool but it would feel a bit too much like Mirror's Edge and first person acrobatics are a bit mundane. If a Spartan grabbed hold of a pole it would simply rip off because of the weight. Still a good idea though!

What could be done is that you could just push up if you r on a wall and the spartan goes through the motions, so it pretty much does it for you. Makes it so combat would be smoother

  • 11.01.2009 6:40 PM PDT

thats an amazing idea. since halo reach is a highly urbanated planet with lots of miltary and industrial areas, it would be cool to move super strong and agile spartans through them. kinda like assassins creed and mirrors edge.

  • 11.01.2009 6:45 PM PDT

It would be a little hard with half a ton of armor on, even if you're cybernetically enhanced.

hard in half ton armor? spartans can jump like ten feet into the air. they have the strength to smash tanks. combine that with super strong futuristic titanium and concrete buildings.

  • 11.01.2009 6:49 PM PDT

War never decides who is right; only who is left.

Dark Thorn may have the worst argument I've ever beheld in any disagreement in the history of anything. Halo needs to change, it cannot stay the same for this game. In response to the OP, this could work, but to a lesser degree than what you are saying. MAybe scaling a wall, but not full-on Mirror's Edge-esque wallrunning and flips and stuff. The game is supposed to be a shooter.

  • 11.01.2009 6:54 PM PDT

Yeah, sorry kid. The books completely rule out your "hard in half ton armor" point. Many of the spartans pull of some inhuman acrobatics throughout the written series.

it would be cool but i doubt it would happen because halo has stayed the same forever its just runin and gunin and no parkor acrobatic stunts

  • 11.01.2009 6:59 PM PDT

ok, all of you can have the fun playing the same exact game when halo epidsode 34: the return of the flood with 76 brand new weapons and lots more annoying as hell equipment comes out.

things like adding acrobatics to a game where we play as supposedly acrobatic super soldiers sounds cool and coul be if its done right.

Yeah, I didnt mean extremely insane stuff like just running up a wall or anything, But something like some simple acrobatics. Has anyone played inFamous?

1.Imo, Reach should not have any more larger maps than Halo 3 does. In fact, I believe that it should have less Large maps (such as Valhalla, sandtrap, etc..) and should stick to creating only a couple maps that are as large. Yes, a Spartan would most likely NOT fight in close quarters, arena style areas. However, the multiplayer (PvP) experience ISN'T the Campaign. The Campaign is for the whole "Novel-like, large area, gameplay"

2. Multiplayer can be used in several ways. Just to screw around, have fun with friends, or be competitive. Therefore, the only way that i would like to see this happen is if it was able to be Enable/Disabled. However, that is very unlikely because that would require a ton of work that is caompletely unnecessary. which leads to...

3. What you are suggesting is NOT what the Halo series was meant to be. Halo DOES NOT need to change. Halo 3 is still one of the most purchased games till today. (Wait? Halo 3 came out in 2007?) That's an EXREMELY long life-span for any game and especially because it is one of the most played series' in video games (Next to CoD, GoW, etc,,,) If this is implemented i would bet my life that it would not increase gameplay by any marginal amount.

People will still buy Halo no matter what they do to it and People will love it. This is just extra work for them to do which is unneccessary and time consuming.

And also, i side note for all you "Halo Novelists" the Games were created BEFORE the Novels Started. So anything in the books was either copied from the game or partially MADE UP to add to the novel content.

However, i still love the books. They are great.

Assasin's Creed Style, FTW! Like to see this in Halo

I have trouble picturing this in a FPS, but I LOVE the idea.

I don't join any group that spams me in PM so don't try it.
SPAM applies to anything that is copy and pasted, it is very obvious when you do so don't say you wrote it. Also if you argue with me on the nature of things contained in this signature, you will be blocked and never removed. If you send to me in XBox live you will be Avoided, Blocked, and a complaint will be filed for harassment.

I think you people need to keep in mind that the XBox is barely equipped to handle that kind of terrain mapping. Making environments that are properly user-friendly is even harder. Besides, this is what all the cool Multi-Console kids have Uncharted 2 for.
