Something smells fishy...
I configured my firewall. It's very much different from the Windows XP firewall.
My firewall has all the ports and haloded.exe "allowed."
I attempted to run haloded and it indeed showed up on the Gamespy server list. But then I had to stop the server and exited it. When I restarted the server it did not appear on the Gamespy list.
What I've been doing is:
1. My OS won't allow me to modify the target data of a shortcut to haloded. What I've added to the haloded (non-shortcut) application, in the name box, is: haloded -exec init -port 2307.
2. Remove haloded.exe from the "inbound" section of my firewall.
3. Start up haloded.
4. Allow private and public network access when prompted.
