A lot of people believe that Halo 3 gameplay has been slowed down since Halo 2 and CE.

This is due to a lot of things. Some of these factors are weapon switch and reload time. That is why you see people camp with CQC weapons because you dont have enough time to surprise someone rushing in for the beatdown. Also reload time is so long for most guns now most pros dont even bother to reload. The only safe time to reload is when you are behind cover and generally you are stuck there between .5 and 1 seconds.

I mean sure it was annoying in Halo 2 when someone pulled out a sword when they were one shot and killed you but to me its less annoying than the person that sits behind the corner and camps to kill you.

I personally think that the time to reload and switch weapons should be cut down what do you think?

I believe the reload time is still very quick. Also, the reason why people camp with CQB weapons isn't because they don't have time to reload, it's because they're camping nubcakes.

We got Jackals in the courtyard!

i think reload time is fine, but switching weapons should depend on what weapon it is. like taking a sword, pistol, needler etc off your hip would be quick, but bringing an battle rifle or sniper or assault rifle would take time. also wird bulky weapons like fuel rod and sentinel beam would take extra time to take out.

The reload time isn't extremely slow but if it was sped up just a tiny bit it would be just right.

You are right about people camping but back in the day of halo 2 you could pull out your sword and instantly lunge at someone where as now it takes about a second to switch weapons and by that time you are dead.

Yes, yes, yes.
Weapon switching, in particular, takes ages in Halo 3. This makes tactics like using the Plasma Rifle to drain your opponent's shield, and finishing them off with a BR headshot almost impossible, because you'll be dead before you can change weapons.

Exactly it almost defeats the purpose of having a plasma based arsenal when you cant use a human weapon to finsih them off.

No matter how superhuman you are, if you wrench a weapon out of it's holstered position, you're going to wreck it sooner or later. I think the swap time is SHORT compared to other games, and the reload speed is even longer. You shouldn't need to swap weapons or reload in a short firefight, and you should have backup or cover in a prolonged one.

But in other games, like Modern Warfare (not meaning to create any arguments, this is just the first example that springs to my mind) you don't need to change weapons in a fight. You have no reason to. They all work basically the same way. They fire bullets. In Halo, you have plasma (for draining shields) and bullet (extra damaging against unshielded opponents) weapons, and they're meant to complement each other well. But if you can't effectively use both together, it makes plasma weapons useless because you can only get assists with them before you're dead.

I used to get on these forums back in the Halo 1, anticipating Halo 2 days...I'm back :)

Weapon switch? yes. Reload time? no.

That is all

Swap time may be short compared to OTHER games but this is Halo. Halo is known for being fast paced so this in no right is a way to justify what is. Also we dont need to worry about being realisitc seeing how this game is set in a time hundreds of years before the time we are in now.

Exactly. this isn't other games. This is Halo. What works best for other games doesn't necessarily apply, because of how different the play style is.

That said, reloading seems fine to me the way it is. Most weapons are pretty fast to reload, to make reloading too fast would defeat the purpose of running out of ammo.

Yes, but unless the weapon's made of rubber, it'll still get wrecked with repeated instant grab/use combination. Halo's weapon swap time is right on, in my opinion, and the reload time works for gameplay, but is also pretty fast if you're going by realism. Unless you have your weapons holstered on your chest webbing, you can't pull them out quickly. It's holstered on your back, it takes a second.

Gameplay Balance is far more important that realism.

Speaking of which, why aren't you over in the Bungie Universe forum complaining about the fact an actual Halo ring isn't physically possible?

No keep the weapon switch the same. It was so much better with the sword in Halo 3.

I think Pesty is a pretty gooooooooood writer, he munches spoons and doesn't afraid of anything!

Reloading only good when you're behind cover? That's the whole idea.

Weapon switch time is fine if not too short. I want full animations for swapping weapons. I want to see my character grab the top of his backpack weapon and pull it off at the same time he slings his current one behind. Just allow us to shoot immediately after we're done swapping.

Because if a Halo ring wasn't possible, then how did I dig up the Portal in my backyard?

I'm all about the gameplay, and the gameplay is fine.

You call for help, and no ones there.

You cry in pain and no one cares

You stand alone in this nightmare

yeah it is way too quick...then again this is halo so realism isn't really relevant...

How so. It is so much slower that literally the only way to pull it out in time is if you are behind a wall camping. Or if the oppenent just stares at you and says oohhh the light.
