*second attmep with new features.

Remember the Zombies gametype players made in Halo 2? Well it got made into Infection in Halo. Yet, fans have been wanting more. A lot of us though Infection would invlve the Flood in a way, it didn't. So here is my pitch for an Infection/Firefight Flood mode.

The Premise

Take the larger maps in Halo: Reach, and the Firefight ones if FF is in Reach, add Spartans or Elites if we can play as them, and introduce the Flood. Oh it doesn't end there. The Flood units would include the following

*Infection Form (The standard infection unit)
*Human Combat Forms (Standard combat form)
*Elite Combat Forms (Standard combat form as well)
*Carrier Form (Explodes to release more Infection forms)
*Pure Form (The hulking Flood forms that change into multiple forms are your standard "tank")
*Flood Dispersal Pods (Drops Flood from the sky)

NEW

*Grunt Carrier Form (These new units would be infected Grunts who would act as Kamikaze Grunts. They would run up to you and rapidly expand and explode while releasing Infection Forms)

*Jackal Combat Form (Much like regular Jackals who carry Defense Gauntlets, but they will rabidly rush at you. Imagine those bloodthirsty Jackals in the pens in Halo 2's opening cinematic)

*Elite Stealth Form (Seems some Elites carried stealth generators when they died and the Flood abused them. Now you have to be very careful.)

*Flood Juggernaut (A cut Flood form from Halo 2 that had a lot of potential of being the most challenging form yet. If it were to appear it would be a boss that would appear after a round)

The Gameplay

The main idea of the game would be like Firefight except without the rounds, sets, and such. It would have a timer with enemy Flood units getting tougher and the landscape becomes more Flood infected as time goes on with Flood Sacs forming on the ground and buildings.

Here is where Infection gametype comes in. Say the Flood units overwhelm you, you are then infected by an Infection form. This transforms you into a Flood version of yourself. To keep things simple, it would just be your armor with some Flood biomass on it. It may not be catchy, but to go grand scale infection would require a lot of code and could -blam!- up if something is wrong. The game would end when the final Spartan falls.

What we now have is a mix of Infection and Firefight so to speak. The people you fought valiantly with are now your enemies. The parasites you fought against are now your allies. Deja vu ala Halo 3?

Alternate RTS Mode

A different version of the game could be radically different. When you die, you are now veiwing the battlefield with a Halo Wars style perspective. With this new view comes new gameplay. You can control Flood units on the map and send them at your former friends. With a human brain calling the shoots, the battle just got harder. Players can flank, re-position, or sawrm the survviors with wave after wave of Flood. It would be a madhouse.

Number Of Players

For a mode this big, a play count of around 8 players seems appropriate. And unlike Firefight, if soemone leaves your game doesn't end. Any points the quitter had could be transfer evenly amongst the remaing players.

Difficulty Multipliers

For added fun or a challenge, you can add Skulls, whatever Reach's possible Skulls may be, to increase the difficulty.

Conclusion

So what do you think? Would you play?

Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

Sorry, but I don't really think this is a good idea. While Firefight with Flood is okay, this is a bit much...

Plus, you made a few errors:

Grunts and Jackals cannot be infected by the flood. While they can be turned into biomass used to create Pure forms, they cannot be turned into combat forms.

Plus, getting mutated wouldn't require a '-blam- or code' and would be perfectly doable. It would however, make the game a bit boring. As soon as one player is infected, the game may as well be over as that player could easily destroy the others.

As for the Grunts and Jackals not being able to be infected, Halo Wars proves they can. That is what I based it off.

And as for the full body infection for a player, it may require a lot of coding. But I do not know.

Halo Wars proves nothing. They can't be infected by infection forms, read the books, look it up on Halopedia.

And yes, it is possible. But as I said, I don't think this idea would work.

Rawr Im a dino!

Well firefight with flood is ok. I dont think that all the other stuff you listed would. They only need the flood froms we have been introduced to before.

Also if infection is on Reach, I would like the ability to customize a flood form for use in only infection.

If Halo Wars proves nothing, why is it labeled as canon? And I have read the books, but Halo Wars changes things. Story details change.

As for the idea, it may or may not work. We may never know.

no they did that for gameplay reasons that part is not canon
