I hope this is the case because i feel that ODST was way, way over priced... it was a glorified expansion pack especially when you purchased all the map packs like I did for Halo 3 but im not goin to harp on that or keep whining on that topic... What Reach needs to improve on is the half arsed effort of a horde mode Firefight is/ was... I feel of all the recent games to have this feature ODST falls dead last, and after being most recent to come out, I would of thought it would of been the best... but COD World at War really showed the gaming world what a horde mode can be with its money system and ability to purchase weapons, and ability to repair walls... I was hoping for weapon drops or a purchase system when u earn more points in the later waves and what not in firefight... but instead it just gets harder and harder when theres no real depth and the weapons are scarce to begin with... and the game itself seems to hate vehicles... I just found it kinda boring compared to N@zi Zumbies!! And i really not a huge COD fan just a N@zi Zumbie fan!!... Honestly Bungie you guys need to step up your game literally, add more depth, add a point system, add a lot more weapons!!! Oh and vehicles too... Look at COD WAW and what it does right and dont be afraid to piggy back and expand on there glorious effort of a horde mode... Throw a whole bunch load of weapons, and the ability to upgrade them, honestly for the horde mode we dont need to be that worried about balance when the odds are way against you!!... WIth that said I hope Reach uses a new graphics engine(Halo 3 engine is really looking old) and isn't afraid to try things that arent exactly Halo, after all Halo is going to be rounding near 10 when Reach comes out and, no Halo isn't bad, its a great game, but even great games get stale when all the developer does is recycle almost every aspect! Whats your thoughts? Im really not trying to be over negative but a constructive critic.... Please comment

ODST did dissapoint me (and others), but Reach has been in progress either before or a little bit after the release of Halo 3. It will be awesome.

And a big wall of text is bad, the enter key is good. :D

ODST was supposed to be just a year long project that would be priced as an expansion because it was just a short campaign and three mythic maps. But then Bungie came up with Firefight and Microsoft raised the price to $60, so they also released the Mythic disc to help make up for it.

CE, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Reach are full 3 year development games. ODST was a short 1 year development game, so Reach will be better than ODST

I guess when you spend $60 bucks u would expect it to be a full blown game and ODST has left me a bit bitter... I knew purchasing the game it hasnt been in development nearly as long as the other Halos, but I expected something special and new I guess... Reach really needs to change a lot of things! I'm hoping for something Halo, but I want something ahead of the gaming world and not behind, ODST showed to be an aging gameplay and graphics system.. lets hope for something fresh and new with Reach

if you have any questions about halo i am one of the few people on this site who will gladly help you. Even though this account has been active for only a year, my past accounts go all the way back to 2002.

Reach is a full three year cycle, ODST was a one year cycle. I think that sums it up.

Halo 3: ODST wasn't meant to be Halo 4 you know.

Bingo. Bungie is balancing. I think ODST was worth the money, but to me an extra $20 is worth Bungie's work. I liked the single player. It wasn't a H:CE, or Crysis, but it was good and fun. And the MP add was great.

H:R on the other hand, is the last entry (a postscript, so to speak) But this one has win written all over it. The Fall of Reach is one of the GREATEST 'win' sci-fi books of all time. Hopefully the movie (when it is made) will be on Stewart Beattie's adaptation. I have faith the Bungie will make this entry an epic one.

I wish they would allow signatures at the end of someones post... Would be fun.

There is 1 thing you REALLY need to keep in mind. IT IS AN EXPANSION! If you love N@zi Zombies so much, then go play it. Everything you listed that you find to be flawed in ODST goes to the comment of ODST itself, being an expansion. It wasn't made to be some big cash cow and the pimp daddy of all Halos.

I guess people aren't used to Bungie making expansions.

If you did about 10 seconds of google-ing you would see that Reach is a full-on project. Like Halo 1, 2, and 3.

Bungie already knew Reach would be the next big game before they released Halo 3.

Your being a hypocrite. Saying that you know ODST is an expansion but you wanted more.

BTW. The wall of text. Came on a lil' too strong. Cracks in a wall aren't always bad. And there is no need for 3 periods after a sentence.

but why make an expansion and price it as if its a full blown game? I know some might say cause they can, but Id say well I can go postal and kill a bunch of people but I choose not to cause its wrong lol (I know extreme example but it works)... So I would think bungie would have some ethics and give their hard core fan base a price break on a less than half title which ODST is, right?

Microsoft owns the Halo IP, so they are in charge of pricing things. Don't worry, plenty of idiots blame Bungie for making ODST's price when in reality it is Microsoft doing the pricing. You are not alone.

Don't make decisions for someone else based on your opinions.

I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

Reach = 3 years.
ODST = 1 year.

Are we seriously discussing this?

The name's Ian, Game Designer at Whisper Game Studios, very off-and-on Bungie.net visitor and avid Bungie fan overall. Message me if you wish.

Honestly, kids should shut up. I'm surprised I still read these posts. Just one example I have to give. BioShock. A single player only game with nothing but a campaign. How much did it cost? $60 and $100 for the LE or 120, I'm not 100% sure but ya. Look at that game? If that's considered "Overpriced" to you, then I can understand why you'd see ODST as overpriced. If you think a game is overpriced then don't buy it? Maybe that should work. If you really love video games and have a true passion for them, you'll buy them no matter the price because you like quality and you like to pay them. Calling this overpriced is like calling a Bugatti an overpriced car.

You must not know that while ODST was being developed the rest of Bungie was working on Reach. So yes, it will have more, etcetera.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost,
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

For the amount of time it took to make ODST was good. Overpriced yes, but good. I am still having tons of fun with firefight.

Let thy be killed by my blade

I feel that this year long project was a good game. Now that they have 3 years and a new engine this game could be epic. But Bungie just can't put something in there that distracts the whole thing.

Kris Damkohler

i felt for an expansion, ODST was much more then i expected. but of course reach will be a betetr effort its bungies last halo game. they're gonna end it with a bang.

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

People need to stop crying about ODST. ODST was great for a game that was made in only a year.Sure it wan't the best game ever but that's what happens when you expect too much of things. The price is microsofts decision so stop complaining.

Reach will obviously be better since it is a full time 3 year project.

and how!

A better effort? Seriously? Just because you didn't like the game doesn't mean they didn't put effort into it. Do you have any idea how much work it took to get the Halo 3 engine to allow a sandbox environment to work?

Reach has been in production since shortly after the completion of Halo 3. It will be good. Stop complaining.
