Simple poll and thread for discussion guys, given what we know about Reach and what we (don't) know about the SPARTAN II Gray Team...
Which would have been the better title to base a game around?
Info from Halopedia
"Gray Team was formed from the three SPARTAN-II candidates who were the most difficult to control during training...The decision was made to train the trio separately from the others and form them into their own unit.
...Gray Team's training placed additional emphasis on individual thought and action. This made them suitable to prosecute and survive covert missions deep behind enemy lines. Their assignments focused on disruption of enemy operations followed by a stealthy extraction."
Aside from a few details I've cut short for posting into the thread, this is virtually all the information Halopedia has on the Gray Team. Rather sparse for what I think is one of the most interesting inclusions in the Halo Universe.
Reach has a novel based around it, so we know what will happen already before the game is even in our hands. No doubt there will be sub-plots explored so as not to make it too monotonous; however in my opinion, a story following the covert operations of Gray Team would have unfolded much better as an original story.
-|| As a covert-ops force, Gray Team would no doubt have access to cool new weapons based on stealthy encounters and disruptive actions. New equipment and weapon modifications would all be on the cards
-|| It would add the stealthy approach ODST gave us, but in the shoes of a SPARTAN team, effectively bonding Halo 3 and ODST together into an awesome package
-|| With SPARTAN teamates no doubt having to rely on each other for support (as Gray Team recieve little to no support from the Navy) it would add a whole new slant on gaming, with potentially amazing AI.
-|| The game would have the potential of exploring the human side of SPARTANS. These guys are a totally seperate unit to the rest of the program. No doubt bonded like brother and sister throughout their long years of fighing together, an emotional backstory could flesh out their persona's, giving us a new side of the story.
Some points to think about there, please discuss and critique is appreciated.
