Don't hate... ...loathe.

Why not make it where the laser needs a longer contact time to kill a vehical. If it lasts 0.2 sec. now (just a guess) make the blast last 0.4 sec. and have the same amount of power delivered in that time, (same total power but less power per sec.) now more skill is needed to kill medium vechical. When used aginst players on foot it becomes less effective when someone swings the laser at the last min. because the player that gets shot receve less damage as more time in the beam is needed to kill.

I agree with most of what you said except for the shield part. You're EXTREMELY weak with no shields. I'd much rather go with half-depleted shields or "weaker" shield for a short period of time.

Scrap the Laser. Keep the Homing Rockets out. Keep the Missile Pod, and add a new anti-vehicle power weapon to replace the Laser. The Gauss Rifle (the one Johnson used in Contact Harvest).

Why don't people realize that the word "Gauss" doesn't instantly mean "high-damage anti-everything projectile"?

The Gauss rifle used in Contact Harvest is only effective against soft targets, it would hit only slightly harder than the regular Sniper rifle.

Fair enough. If you want to be specific, I agree with the weapon concept (to a degree, my thoughts are on page 1). It doesn't need to be the gauss rifle, it could be an portable MAC gun or whatever else fits the idea best.

I HATE the laser, don't get me wrong, its fun to use, but it ruins all the vehicles =[ even tanks, I mean c'mon, I'll be flying about in my banshee which taken me AGES to nick from the enemy base when.. BOOM, no warning, dead ]=[ so dull, dodging the rockets was hard but POSSIBLE, in short I so agree =P =]

Anti-armour Rocket Launcher - what we have in Halo 3. Large warhead, but no guidance systems.
The Halo 3 Rocket is incredibly slow and far less powerful than the H2 Rocket. A more accurate AA Rocket would be the Halo 1 Rocket, and then for the tracking rocket, it should be less powerful than in H2 (like in H3) to balance out the homing. Even though homing shouldn't come back outside of customs...

Stop using the excuse that the laser can be dodged if skilled enough. That's called luck. The only way to dodge the laser is if the person using it has parkinsons or something...

If they are to keep the laser in the game they need to seriously tweak it. Mainly in its indicator. Most of the time you NEVER know you're getting lasered. I think if a laser beam is ANYWHERE near you alarms should go off and you should see the beam clearly.

But it would be easier to keep the homing rocket launchers. Those things could be dodged, and they were dodged fairly often. Meaning it wasn't point and shoot, you had to pick your shot carefully.

Nah.

Scrap the Laser. Keep the Homing Rockets out. Keep the Missile Pod, and add a new anti-vehicle power weapon to replace the Laser. The Gauss Rifle (the one Johnson used in Contact Harvest).

Same power (can kill most vehicles in one hit), firing rate, but you would actually need to lead with it, unlike the laser, so it would take skill, unlike the laser.

To balance it against infantry since it wouldn't have a charge rate, it could drain your shield generators in order to accelerate the slug... in other words, you pull the trigger, your shields are gone.

The problem I have with the missile pod is it is a spray weapon. Just yank the trigger till what you're shooting at dies. It has no skill gap or tactical decision making. The homing rocket on the other hand was a tactical gun. You had to choose what to shoot at because of the low ammo. Other issues are that the rocket was far easier to dodge than the missile pod, making it even more of a skillful weapon than it. Sure you are a walking target with the missile pod, but that isn't enough. The gun is awkward and easy for anyone to use.

As much as I love the laser, canonically it wasn't at Reach. So, homing rockets should return, in my opinion. If anything, just for air vehicles. It gives the weapon a strategic advantage an importance unlike in Halo 3, where Rockets are hardly a threat anymore. The only reason I really don't use rockets much is because 65% of the time my rocket gets deflected by some random grenade which makes utterly no sense. My good aim is rewarded with nothing most every time I use the gun. So while we are speaking of rockets, please for the love of god remove the deflection mechanic.

I think they should just change the Spartan laser instead of completely scrap it. It was pretty fun to use, even though it ruined all the fun of vehicles.

Maybe slower reload time but less damage.

In all honesty, the Splazor annoys the crap out of me, but in all honesty, it's a great weapon and is great for tactical use. I'm just terrible at Halo. I would say keep it the way it is, but if it must be changed, I prescribe the above solution.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

I agree that the Laser should be removed and that the homing Rocket Launcher should return. However, the tracking would need to be balanced appropriatly. For example... You should have the vehicle in your crosshair in order to lock on.

The Rocket should also not have the ability to turn back on the vehicle if it misses the first time.

Splaser dodges depend on the skill of the Splaserer i would love to be able to be in a banshee without being smited out of the air during the first thirty secondes of flight.

Don't take flight unless your team has the laser, make sure that the person with the laser doesn't die and lose it.

In Halo 2, the rocket's turning radius was so large that it generally hit something first if it missed you.

The laser was one of my favorite weapons added to Halo 3, but it is overpowered on vehicles. I think it works fine on maps without vehicles, but against vehicles it just has too much range and is too accurate and deadly, no one wants to get in a warthog or drive anything when they know the other team has the laser.

One way to fix it I think would be to make it where instead of shooting one blast after charging, it kept firing for a certain amount of time afterwards depending on how long you hold the trigger down, and you'd have to keep the laser on the vehicle while it started to kill the vehicle instead of doing it in one shot. This would give the driver a chance to get away from the laser and not feel as cheated out of a life if they get killed by it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Halo 2 Multi-player was dominated by Plasma Pistol BR..., Halo 3 - Reach would be fine if you just reduce the Splasers ammo.

The Noob combo only worked because of the homing on the PP, which has since been fixed (except in Reach, although in Reach there is an excuse).

Stop PMing me if you are group recruiting.

A homing rocket isn't a rocket, it's a missile. Rockets are pre-guided missiles with a set path.

I think they should us the missile pod. The laser destroys vehicle combat, and depending on the situation, the rocket launcher from Halo 2 is either overpowered or underpowered

The missile pod is basically the Homing Rockets, but they turned it into a support weapon to even it out. They should have used the missile pod as the replacement in Halo 3

But a missile becomes a rocket when its guidance system fails. Same difference. The weapon is still called a Rocket Launcher in the game, so it is a homing Rocket Launcher. Semantics are so annoying.

ok we care what its called why?

missile pod should stay rocket launcher should stay but laser should be either be fixed or removed (less ammo sounds fine to me)

homing rockets are cool but i like the laser still i think they need to get rid of the equipment
