It's better to be judged by twelve, than to be carried by six.

leaving 343 open to continuing the story (Provided they're comftable with destroying a fantastic trilogy)

Lets not forget that 343 Industries is made up of alot of former Bungie employees that worked on the previous games. Frankie is heading up this division for Microsoft, therefore I believe it should turn out just fine. Nothing says (*gasp*) that Bungie is done with the franchise. Everyone said Halo 3 was the last Halo game Bungie was going to do and that they were going to move on to something different. Then they announced ODST. Then they announced Reach. I wouldn't count them out just yet.

They are still working on the same story. A hero (Master Cheif) and a computer girl (Cortana) struggle to survive a very powerful enemy, in the end trying to help humanity overcome that which could end them.

They haven't worked on that story since Halo 3 was released.

yes but what if they come up with an amazing idea to continue it sure they could continue and ruin a fantastic trilogy but what if they manage to turn it into a perfect quadrilogy?
we can't judge it until we see it. all i'm saying is we don't know what 343 has up their sleaves for the halo trilogy so we should let them show us what they can do and if there first game is amazing and it has a good story then i say go for it make halo 4 but only if it will kick ass 1000 times more than the others.
And I played Halo from CE to ODST and my thirst for halo still lingers in my soul i must have more but it must be quality bungie have done perfect so far we should see what 343 can do before we judge their choices over a halo 4

You can't have a perfect quadrilogy if you have a trilogy with one story, and then tack something on the end for a fourth part. It only works if they ALL follow the same storylines. Halo is NOT "The Continuing and Increasingly Banal Adventures of Master Chief". Halo is about the HALOS, their discovery, threat, and defeat; an all the conflicts, characters, and events that surround that. With the threat eliminated at the end of Halo 3, a fourth Halo would have to be about something completely different, and would not belong in a quadrilogy with the others.

First off, the Flood is not gone. There are many Forerunner instillations with lots of flood specimens held there. If HALO Wars can be used as an example the artificial planet housed Flood. So I seriously doubt they are gone from the galaxy.

While we agree on most of the same points, I think this MIGHT be the last we see of the Flood because logically, MC stopped their attack and it would be cheap to bring them back for the same purpose. Plus now that the humans know what they're dealing with, we can assume they won't be foolish enough to unleash them ever again, which is the only way the Flood ever get anywhere.

Hmm, never thought about the poetry aspect. I was always kind of frustrated with cliff hanger ending, but you, sir, have changed my mind.

  • 11.02.2009 2:31 PM PDT

I was thinking the same thing. MC has nothing left to fight. The conflict is over with the flood gone and the covenant defeated.
Halo 4 could ruin the series.

  • 11.02.2009 2:35 PM PDT

Thank you guys for understanding. Halo 4 would be jumping the shark. But other Halo games? Let's do it.

  • 11.02.2009 2:48 PM PDT

To the guy who mentioned a Chief prequel: that may work. It would at least be better than trying to one-up his already galactic save.

  • 11.02.2009 3:49 PM PDT

It won't be called halo 4.

  • 11.02.2009 4:04 PM PDT

Sure, but ANY future Chief game would ruin the story.

  • 11.02.2009 5:05 PM PDT

You said it yourself, the ending brings master cheif around in full circle making a perfect opening for halo 4.

See you on the battlefield.

I don't know about you guys but I'd like to see other aspects of the Halo universe expanded on. There is literally an entire galaxy's worth of interesting characters, situations, and locations for Bungie to use. It also spans a course of over 100,000 years, so there are nearly limitless possibilities for Bungie to expand on this universe.

Who knows? Master Chief may still make appearances in future titles, but take on the role of a support character, or even just a cameo.

343 confirmed MC is coming back, no there is nothing you can do about it. Flood has been confirmed to be wiped (at least all of it that was freed from the rings) So there is never to be another flood threat unless some idiot wanders to the door. With careful planning, spartans and flamethrowers, the last little flood spores could be eliminated.

Allways on the move...

In the first scene in halo 2, many more of the prophets' species are shown, and the "home worlds" of each race have never been introduced and therfore should leave traces of covenent loyalty, but nevertheless the war that lasted for decades is now over, prologues and post-war spinnoffs are inevitable and welcome. Master Chief could be used in the future but if that happens hopefully he stays away from the spotlite and far away from behind your gun.

In regards to the ending of Halo 3, I think that we're sorta supposed to just imagine what will happen to the Master Chief. Maybe he stays there again and waits for something and goes off to war.

I say a Halo 4 isn't likely but another trilogy? Sure.

About Halo Reach. The star of this game is not going to be the Master Chief because during the trailer (sneak peak or whatever you wanna call it) a spartan named Sierra 259 talks about having spartans on the ground. This is quite interesting due to the fact that the original spartans only numbered up to 150.

You never know. Maybe, just maybe, we may see the Master Chief again. Perhaps this new spartan and the rest of humanity may find an even bigger threat, and when they are traped in a dark corner and everything looks gloomy Sierra 117 may come back and work together with Sierra 259 to fight back this threat, thus making the storylines intertwine somehow. Just because pretty much every main character died in Halo 3 doesn't mean there's no room for more character development into some brand new characters as well as some old. Hopefully Arby comes back because he's teh bomb.

Well, I didn't mean to get carried away with the ideas, but I have a very wondering mind. I don't mean it's like wonder bread either.

Remember this is all just random perspectives and nothing is for sure. I Can't wait for Halo Reach to come out. It sounds like a real good game.

One more thing. If you want a little more to think about you can hear some things that IGN has to say about the trailer.

Posted by: Brent G How about the next Rocky movie has Sylvester Stallone up against an 8th grade girl? That sounds about right.

BRILLIANT!

The legendary ending planet has forunner glyphs on it, could be forunner? I hope there is a continuance of Master Chief's story arc. His arc didn't infact start with a cryotube. it started on a playground as a six year old when he met Dr. Halsey. And reach is mostlikley a prequal to his story arc. who says there can't be one more on a forunner planet that ends with the unsc saving his ass from thousands of pissed off ancient machines? kind of farfetched but it could be different.

True, but most of the Prophets were on High Charity, and it's gone.

Could be intresting, don't see how it would be anything like the other Halo games though. I'd just rather leave Halo 3 as it is and create something new in the Halo universe.

This is very true, but most of the prophets, but not all. High Charity was also built around a Forerunner vessel. Could it be at all possible that this vessel, might have survived the doom of High Charity? Also, The Gravemind was on Installation 5 that survived the events of Halo 2 & 3. If Prophets on High Charity had been infected by the Flood, The Gravemind would have their knowledge making the Flood a much more dangerous foe.

That Forerunner vessel was the Dreadnought, which was docked in the Ark. The Gravemind had no chance of staying alive after the firing of Installation 04. The only Prophets left on High Charity were infected by the flood, and likely destroyed along with the firing.

Sorry for picking on you.

Well, when you think about it, didn't Bungie base the Halo games on biblical references? They took the figure of how everyone in mostly Christianity, believe Jesus to be the savior of humanity, then, after he did his part, supposedly died. Then when the time came he would rise again to apparently AGAIN save humanity...something along those times, I'm not Christian, so I have to remember half this stuff off the top of my head...
