leaving 343 open to continuing the story (Provided they're comftable with destroying a fantastic trilogy)
yes but what if they come up with an amazing idea to continue it sure they could continue and ruin a fantastic trilogy but what if they manage to turn it into a perfect quadrilogy?
we can't judge it until we see it. all i'm saying is we don't know what 343 has up their sleaves for the halo trilogy so we should let them show us what they can do and if there first game is amazing and it has a good story then i say go for it make halo 4 but only if it will kick ass 1000 times more than the others.
And I played Halo from CE to ODST and my thirst for halo still lingers in my soul i must have more but it must be quality bungie have done perfect so far we should see what 343 can do before we judge their choices over a halo 4
You can't have a perfect quadrilogy if you have a trilogy with one story, and then tack something on the end for a fourth part. It only works if they ALL follow the same storylines. Halo is NOT "The Continuing and Increasingly Banal Adventures of Master Chief". Halo is about the HALOS, their discovery, threat, and defeat; an all the conflicts, characters, and events that surround that. With the threat eliminated at the end of Halo 3, a fourth Halo would have to be about something completely different, and would not belong in a quadrilogy with the others.

First off, the Flood is not gone. There are many Forerunner instillations with lots of flood specimens held there. If HALO Wars can be used as an example the artificial planet housed Flood. So I seriously doubt they are gone from the galaxy.
While we agree on most of the same points, I think this MIGHT be the last we see of the Flood because logically, MC stopped their attack and it would be cheap to bring them back for the same purpose. Plus now that the humans know what they're dealing with, we can assume they won't be foolish enough to unleash them ever again, which is the only way the Flood ever get anywhere.
