Wouldn't it be awesome if we could use skulls in multiplayer?
As opposed to campaign and firefight, where skulls affects NPC behavior and whatnot, multiplayer skulls would change game mechanics in certain ways.
Obviously it's not doable for ranked games, but I think it could add flavor to social matches.
Here's a list of what it could be like:
Iron: Teammates share the same health pool (equal to the total of the team's health) and it does not regenerate. Games with this skull would play in rounds. Obviously, you can't make your whole team die if one guy dies in the same round; that would be Extermination spam. Dying all at the same time like this could work if it doesn't give a medal every time.
Black Eye: Melee someone to regenerate shields. Players have a higher than normal damage resistance.
Tough Luck: Reduces the size of player damage boxes. (Obviously, you can't add "dodge" abilities to players)
Catch: Players have infinite grenades. Which grenades are unlimited would be determined either at random, depending on game type, depending on map, or simply all grenade types.
Fog: Motion tracker becomes off by default, friendly tags and names are removed as well as enemy tags and names. Your crosshair still indicates which character is allied and which is not though. (And obviously, your team has a specific color).
Famine: There are less weapons, grenades and equipment overall on the map and all weapons (both on the ground or which you start with) have less ammunition.
Thunderstorm: All game objectives increase holder's damage resistance and shield regeneration rate. In Slayer, increases all players' shield regeneration rate period. (Obviously, "promoting" a player during a game only would have no effect.)
Tilt: Players with shields become immune to ballistic weapons, and players with no more shields become immune to plasma weapons, making ballistic only usable versus unshielded players and plasma only usable versus shielded players. "Middle-ground" weapons would be removed from the map.
Mythic: Two ideas here.
A) All players have their health and shields doubled.
OR
B) A player can only be killed by headshot.
Anyway, these are my ideas. I think if you can make Firefight with skulls, this is feasible too. And think of all the wacky videos and screenshots Bungie!
