Subject: eliminate hosting issues/team based host rounds/ Suggestion for Reach

Since it's very apparent that nothing can be done to totally fix host advantage, why not at least level the playing field? If you look at most games on halo 3 even when it matches teams with like skills, there usually is one person in each game that doubles or even triples everyone else in that game. That person is the host. Sometimes it's worse than others, but it's always there. My suggestion is to have at least two rounds per gametype and swap host to the other team on the second round. For example in a double team game it would select the best host for the entire game for the first round, lets say this was one of the players on red team. Then play to 15 kills, round over, then switch host to the best connection on blue team, to 15 kills again.

This gives both teams a fair chance and gives them both the "host advantage" therefore leveling the playing field. If the host team wins each round then there was too much of a connection difference and it's a wash for the stats as it should be. If the actual better team wins both on their host and off, then they truly deserve the win and they are the better team. This would also eliminate bridging issues because the only thing they could do is bridge to have host in the first round. What do you think?

Lol I coudlnt even read this all the way cause I felt that you had no idea what host is about.

Just because someone has host does not mean they are going to double or tripple someones score. Host does give a small advantage, but it does not make you a god. I mean there are people that are amazing with host, but there are people that have it and do worse then me, cause in the end, they still have to have some sort of skill to beat you.

Adding a second round would make the leveling system worse then it is. Without spending a major amount of cash there is no real fix for host. Sure its annoying when you snipe a guy in the head and he lives, but in the end its not as bad as Halo 2.

I know exactly what host is and what it entails. It's funny that you think it's such a small advantage. I can play someone one on one on their host and lose 15-4/5 and then switch host to me and suddenly I win by that margin. Same map, same game type. Nothing changed, but host. If the person picked for host has an incredible connection than it can be less of in issue, BUT it's still there. If you are player of any skill whatsoever you know that even if it is a small advantage that's all it takes to make a big difference in the upper skill range in halo 3. If you can't play good on your own host than you have no skill. Adding the second round would make it more accurate to a players actual skill level and not to their connection or their likelihood to get host. For whatever reason there is serious issues with the system for picking the correct best connection. I play with four guys and two of them are in the same household on the same connection except one of them is connected via wireless and the other wired to the LAN. Who does it pick for host? The wireless connection. Ridiculous.
I really challenge someone to give me a con of this solution. I know all the connection cheaters will hate this idea because it will end their advantage.

if I am not wrong, then it's a repost. (and I am sure I am right.)
you should have revived the original thread instead.

anyway, that's a horrible idea.
let me give you a scenario :
team slayer, you're playing alone, you're in blue team, and the red team is comprised of 5 random people too.
so, red team gets host, because they have the person with the best connection. at the second round, they give host to blue team... but all of you have a bad connection, the only persons with a good connection are on red team.
the first round will go more or less lag free for everybody, killing the host will be possible, while second round will give an extra unfair advantage to the host, since everybody else will be lagging and have hard times aiming correctly and shooting the host (or anybody in general).

also, I really don't like the idea of having 2 rounds for every gametypes... it just slow things down.

Yes in that situation it wouldn't be ideal, but that isn't a likely situation. The system has problems selecting the proper "best connection" anyway as referenced above. Also in your example the game would be a wash so it wouldn't affect your stats. Only games with good connections for both rounds would be counted for you or against you because you would have to win both on and off host. If the connection isn't good when you are off host then you will lose. This is pretty simple. Doing it this way would take out the connection variable. All teams and all players would have equal chances to have a good connection. If you can win on a bad connection off host, then you are way more skilled than the host team and you deserve the win.

If we go by what you just said let's look at another scenario.... Team slayer 4 vs. 4 and not one player on either team has a good connection or is suited for host. The game lags horribly and whoever got host is the only player that can do anything. That team gets the win simply because they got lucky and got the host selection. No skill involved. In my suggestion it would've been a wash because both rounds would've canceled each other out with the host team winning each round.
