So, just had a thought the other day. I suppose there may have already been a thread about this, but I couldn't find it.

Will Halo: Reach start at the very beginning of the spartan program? As in, do you think you will go through boot camp, as well as all training missions mentioned in the books? I, personally, would be a big fan of this. I mean, if you began the game as a feeble kid, you would really appreciate the spartan armor and, when the time comes, the energy shields.

So, will Bungie play it that way, or drop you in sometime after the spartans have been established?

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

At Reach is my guess.

well I think that with this being the *last bungie made* halo game that they should at least show the origins of the spartans and what they were meant for...the rebels.

how can you make a decent campaign about children training? press x to pressup? paintball guns? the only way it could happen is if the game plays through the books. this is bungies last halo game, i think they put the effort into writing a new story.

the trailer is the battle of reach. why would it mostly not be about that?

It really wouldn't be that difficult. The maze at the beginning could cover any sort of movement/acrobatics system. Then the next training missions could cover combat tutorial ect. . . And, if you don't remember, several of the training missions used live ammunition.

Well, I am almost certain it will not start at the beginning of the spartan program, I think doing pushups and sitting in a hospital bed geting genetacly enhanced would make for a pretty poor game. The games called halo, Not "Pretend you are a spartan as you fantasise about training and becomeing enhanced.

Now, let's not get carried away. I never said anything about your terribly exaggerated way of making this angle of the game seem boring. I was more thinking that it would skip through the past of a spartan, so that those who haven't read the books fully appreciate the history. Even if the only missions they included were the beginning maze where John met Kelly and Sam (was as it Linda and Sam?) then jumped to the capture the flag mission and went on to the rebel mission/Sigma Octanus, it would do wonders for the plot and character development. It would make Sam's death something we cared about. It would make the spartan comradeship something we could understand.

*Silloin kun näyttää siltä että ei ole mitään hätää niin tulee hälytyskellojen soida
*Neuvostoliiton hajoaminen oli vain showta
*Saksa on löytänyt uuden tavan vallata Eurooppa ilman yhtäkään panssarivaunua

Confirmed to start at Reach

The game will take place just in the year 2552 during the fall of planet.

Are you referring to the timeline? Because, as far as I can tell, the date says: "Fall of Reach as seen in Halo: Reach" not "As seen at the beginning of Halo: Reach".

What else do you expect to see in the year 2552 besides that with the teaser covering it, and the banner that is taken at Reach with ships glassing in background?

  • 11.02.2009 2:49 PM PDT

Yes, I realize that. But, just because the highlight of the game is in the year 2552 and is depicted on the cover art doesn't necessarily mean that it is where the game begins. Again, the time line doesn't say the ENTIRE game occurs in 2552. That seems to just be an assumption. An assumption I don't agree with.

There's no indication whatsoever that this game will be based on the book The Fall of Reach.

Nice idea.

That would fall under the "some midpoint" category.
