Subject: Halo Reach for PC?

Proud member of Forge Cafe

Although I'd be sure to get Reach on 360, do you think theres a chance it will come out on PC like halo 1 and 2?

Maybe PC but definitely nothing else, because M$ won't let Sony or Nintendo use it for sure.

  • 11.02.2009 1:28 PM PDT

It will come out probably 2-3 years after the game coms out on 360. Like halo 2 did, like halo 3 will probably do too.
Never on anything else though. Halo is M$ best selling game I think. They will not let anything else take any money off of that. Besideds. Nintedo will never create a consol that can handle it and PS3 fans are too worried about halo beating their crapy escusives that they will never accept halo.

Since H3 didn't come out for it. Very unlikely due the fact the main reason was the fact PC's couldnt support H3 graphics and seeing as how HR will be even better. Its a 95% that its a no.

you make it sound like it'll look better than crysis or any other game to date.
be realistic, it's going to look pretty. if a pc can handle crysis or farcry 2 or unreal tournament 3, then it can easily handle halo 3.
and it'll be able to handle reach too.

Most PC's could not handle halo 2's graphics. But now they can so it was made for PC. I am almost 100% sure that when the avarage computer and not just hte ones that hace $5000 sunk into them for hard core PC gamers can handle halo 3, it will come out on PC.

I'm talkin about the average computer. But yeah I guess if it had 12GB ram 1000 GB mem and the latest and best Graphics card and processor. Yeah it would work. but for 5000+ dollars.

Wherever you roam
so far from home
you'll be safe from peril
life threatening and terrible
if you avoid David Powel
and keep track of your towel.

I doubt it, unless you count emulators.

If you do count emulators then when the next Xbox nears the end of its production cycle you'll start to see some 360 emulators for PC capable of running commercial games like Halo Reach.

In high definition baby!

I hope not. PC gamers needs to get off their rolling chairs and use a controller.

It continues into the seventy eight minute long pile of green, sobbing cheese trains with no more butter, but more like the steak owed the tin cans some lovin'.

Keep in mind that the 360 has very out of date hardware now. The average gaming computer would be able to run anything on the 360 easily.

And you do? You wouldn't be saying hard drive space effects graphical capabilities and that the 360 is as powerful as a $5000 gaming PC if you did.

No you didn't. You said that the average computer wouldn't be able to run Halo 3, but a $5000+ computer would.

Do you really care? you can't automatically see my signature anyway.

the xbox 360:
triple-core processor (3.2 GHz, 1 MB L2 shared cache)
512 MB of GDDR3 RAM (shared between the processor and GPU)
I don't know the GPU, but then again I dont understand much about GPU except that my laptop's GPU chipset is -blam!-.

Guys, there are ways to get a $400 PC to run Crysis at 30FPS. My PC cost $600 and it runs every game I throw at it smooth as can be. If you pay more than $600 for a PC you're just doing overkill.

Thing is, the 360 has outdated hardware. Cryengine 3 looks worse than Cryengine 2 - You know why? Because the 360 and PS3 can't handle the graphical effects that Cryengine 2 could put out (only playable on gaming PCs). If you look at Cryengine 3 gameplay it's comparable to Crysis (PC) on Medium settings.
PCs would easily be able to run H3, and the only reason it was hard for anybody to play H2 on the PC was that the port was terrible and extremely poorly optimized.

Even so, the PC I bought in 2003 for $600 (not my current PC) can still run it at 20FPS... That says a lot.

The average PC now days (with an Nvidia GeForce 6150 - usually stock for the average PC, and easily upgradeable) could probably run H3 around 25 FPS on low settings (if it's a good port, as my old PC's GeForce 6200 ran H2 at 20FPS)

And if you're not satisfied with how it runs invest in a $60 graphics card and run it on medium/high settings (low res) *(all speculation)* Then you could play all of the F2P FPS' on the PC as well as games like *GASP!* CodMW2PC and L4D2PC.
If the CoD series can put all of its games on the PC, the Halo series should as well.

Oh, and if you didn't notice - A lot of people play Cod on their average PCs and I don't see anyone complaining. :)

In Closing:
Reach + PC = Godsend.

Been playing Halo since CE

Fed up of little kids who say 'Xbawks has better gwaphiks unless you haz 4000 dollars to build super compteeeerrr' *purpose misspelling -.-*

My PC cost me $500 and can run Crysis on high with 60FPS.

An average PC nowadays could easily handle Halo 3.

And Halo reach is a new game so only people who actually are dedicated to PC gaming would play it.

Also cross platform works with PC and Xbox so why not have it cross platform.
Sure more chance of hackers but a well maintained anti cheat system will do fine.
Also the advantages of a PC being that Xbox users could get access to professionally made maps, missions and mods as well as a possible dedicated server support and most of all....................A large increase in the total players.

If Halo reach was on PC id grab that before considering the Xbox version (That is if it was cross platform)

Just my 2 cents.

Look out.... -boom- (headshot)
I told you to look out, but know, you got in my way, was going to shoot that splaser....

Hre's an idea... hook your 360 to your computer screen then play it.

I know it's not the point, but I reconize that untill said game releases for PC that it is a viable option.

As much as I hate to say it, I dont think it will come out for PC, and here is my reasonig behind this:

I know from first hand that the PC gaming scene is dying, slowly, but surely. All of the hardcore PC gamers that like to compete on the PC circuit and just in general play PC games are all getting old, including me. All of the old school awesome players that you used to hear about dont play anymore, and there are not alot of new talent joining the scene.

Alot of the kids these days are not interested in PC games, its all about the xbox, and like someone mentioned, they think that the 360 is their God and that it has alot better graphics than a PC, and in reality that is partly true and partly not.

You can build a great PC that will run Halo 3, Crysis, Gears of War, and so on with about 800 dollars or less. It not longer takes 5,000 dollars to build a beast, but why build one when you can buy one that will run any game released... for less money.

I was very good at Halo PC and very competitive, and I would give anything to see Reach be as popular as the first halo was on the pc side, but when kids start playing when they are like 7 or 8, have no interest in computers and would have no idea on how to build one, the 360 is the only machine they know.

I would like to see Reach for PC but at an economical view, it would not be a top seller, because of the slow fall of the PC scene. I also blame the fall of PC gaming on WoW, and the only reason I dont pray every night that WoW would shut down, is because there would be mass suicides.

NOTE: Keep in mind that this is my opinion, and everyone has the own, and I respect anyones view. :)

Reasons to play PC games: Mods.
I would be a PC gamer if I had the money.
