iMega sounds awesome. Map vote and AFK-kick! Regarding NVIDIA, I can force AF in the control panel and see it work in all games.

That's what I figured. Both nVidia and ATI fixed their drivers regarding Halo AF support a long time ago probably.

I have bad news. It isn't totally confirmed, but it appears at least one of the aimbots has been fixed and is out already. Weee.

Some people have asked for the 1.09 fix list:

- Fixes an incompatibility with some Windows Updates related to recent IE security fixes.

- Fixes a (harmless) nag message on 64-bit systems with >4GB RAM that you don't have enough RAM. It now stops counting at 1GB since it doesn't care if you have more than that anyway.

- Fixes a bug which could allow an attacker to cause the server app to hang.

- Fixes a bug which could allow a careless typist to cause the server app to hang via Rcon.

"Good news - the Mac-version dev lead has already integrated these changes and has a build ready to go. He's just waiting for me to say that I've put up the PC version for auto-update and he'll release too."

Nice to see that you have not forgotten us, old fateful who did not switch platform with you.

I just love the halo story. And marathon aw those days. That made me eager to understand english just to able decipher those terminals. Well actually to me Marathon Durrandal, Marathon I was to young to be able to go back from durandal gfx and after that never had the hardware for it.

Just got to MacOSX10.6 but had aleph one on my previous system. The only game I play today is Halo combat evolved, network. I have played the others but never understood the console idea.

But eventually I have to get one for the ODST and Reach. Got the 3 books too.

Remember the story is the important part. Would hope you do a movie on the story too, as earlier planned. Something awesome is still missing from the original MacWorld presentation of Halo. Just cant pinpoint it down what it actually is. The third person of it or ... nja

It's simple really, you download the 1.08 game files and use the version changer to make your game think it's actually version 1.09.

To do the above: Extract the 1.08 game files and the version changer to your Halo or Halo CE installation directory, start your game with console enabled, and type "version 1.09" ("version 1.09ce" for Halo CE) into the console. You can now connect to 1.09 servers and continue to use 1.08 applications since you're really using 1.08 files!

Hello, this is my first post. Anyway, i have a problem that I cant seem to figuare out and i was hoping someone here could help. I have been playing halo for around 5 years, so most of this stuff isnt new to me. My problem is that ever since we updated to ver 1.09, we have been unable to connect to our server through Gamespy Lobby. We can connect fine through Xfire. And yes i have read and done everything this fourm has said to do serveral times and still no luck. I have noticed there is quite a few servers like that still on Gamespy, so Im sure other people are still having an issue.
Hopefully i can get some Positive feedback from others or some techies who have seen this and corrected it.

Thanks!

Ok, so I downloaded this:
http://www.bungie.net/images/games/halopc/patch/haloded.exe

I replaced my Halo Dedi server exe with this file - now our server is not able to connected to via the GameSpy lobby.

We can connect direct IP and via Xfire, but the GameSpy Lobby shows no ping indicator and sits at "Negotiating Connection To Server" and never connects.

I updated my local client, copied the String.DLL file to the Halo Dedi folder and fired up the exe - still nothing, same results, no connection via GameSpy Lobby.

I was also running on other port numbers so I moved it to the default 2302 - still nothing. I can only connect via Xfire and direct IP.

I see other servers that are suffering the same fate as ours - why is updating the servers such a PITA? We have not had our servers public now for almost a week. Anyone got any ideas on what else I can do to fix this?

I run a dedicated server elsewhere that I control root level access to. I do not have haloded.exe or any server files local on my gaming machine, that is all on the dedi, so there was no local files I could upload onto the dedi except for the Strings.DLL - so does anyone have any other ideas as to why this is not working?

I also have uninstalled - then reinstalled Halo Dedicated server, then updated the files - still nothing. At this point I am confused.

Haloded is a fickle thing indeed. Mine's always had a problem with listening on the wrong NIC (network card) that no amount of configuration fixes.

Nice update, but as usual, i get the "Halo is not installed on your computer, this patch requires Halo to run". yes, of course i have it installed. And the only way to get the last patch to work for me was to get the 1.08v strings.dll from a friend.

Are you using a pirated copy of the game?

1) It'd only say it's not installed if it can't find the registry entries for the game.

2) If it can't find the registry entries then neither can Halo.

3) If Halo can't find the registry entries then it won't work.

4) The registry entry is mainly to store your serial, path and version which a pirate copy has no need for.

I don't want to draw conclusions here, but... ;)

This guys problem is eaisly fixed - you have to run that exe WITHIN your HALO folder in Program Files. You cannot run it from the desktop or some other folder, you have to run it INSIDE the program files folder where your other Halo files are installed - this will allow it to work.

Now back to the SERVER ISSUES!

Does anyone know why some servers that are updated via this post as described within this post are not able to be connected to via the GameSpy Lobby? Has anyone found a workaround?

Why do the servers not working not show the ping in GameSpy? In XFire everything works fine, from ingame direct IP works fine, GameSpy Lobby never negotiates connection to the server - what gives?

Any and all assistance, ideas, or thoughts are welcome.

Does anyone have a WORKING set of files for a dedi? Would it be possible to zip them and see if I couold use these to overwrite the ones I have and see if that works to solve the issue?
