Everyone that's played Halo 2 on Xbox LIVE for an extended amount of time will remember the Clan Feature. In the feature, you can organize events for your clan, accept or request people for membership, send clan-wide messages, and have a rating system that is personally created for trusted members or Staff. The system also had much more features.
-I have given this considerable thought, and have looked through previous posts on the topic, for future reference.
Halo 2 Clans
In Halo 2, you could use the complete features of the Halo Clan System. it involved many features -mentioned above- that could be used to coordinate matches or games with friends or clan-mates.
Some important features of the H2Clans System included:
*Peon-
Lowest of all the classes. Can only participate in clanmatches. Usually used as punishment within a clan.
**Member-
Average member of the clan. Can recruit people to a clan, via clan invite and participate in clanmatches.
***Staff-
Managers of the clan. They have all the privileges accorded to the lower ranks, but with the ability of changing ranks of lower ranking clan members (members to staff, member to peon, etc). Can also boot lower ranking members from the clan.
****Overlord-
Admin/Leader(s) of the clan. Have all the privileges of staff and clan except with considerably more power.

Halo 3 Clans (Not included in Game)
The Clan Feature was not included in Halo 3. Even so, Halo Clans were still playing strong. With the help of organizations like MLG's GameBattles or Bungie.net's Private Groups and Spotlight, clans have survived the lack of the feature easily. Still, wouldn't it have been cool to have it there, though?
Halo: Reach Clans: The Possibility
With the announcement of Halo: Reach including Multiplayer, I immediately thought of the reintroduction of Clans. It could include all of the old helpful features from Halo 2, but also include new features because of Halo's expansion in the gaming franchise and the new power of the Xbox 360.
Possible Updates to the Clan System
Everyone I know loved the Clan System back in the day, but it still had it's downsides, such as Staff Management or coordinating with other clans at the right times.
*Custom Ranks/Titles
This would add a more organized structure to the Clan System if it were to be implemented. It could be similar to the Bungie.net Private Groups "Security Role Editor" selection, where you can use the current Roles and change around their features and access, as well as change their title.
**Friend's List Implementation
-With the Clan System, there could possibly be an option where you can quick-select Friends on your Friend's List to receive an invite to your Clan. This would minimize confusions with invites involving your friends and your clan.
--This could also include a simple pop-up to say that you've already invited them to your clan, and ask to confirm if you want to send another.
***Multiple Clans at Once
-In Halo 2, you could only be in 1 clan at a time, per Gamertag. (i.e. "Lord of Blah" can only be in "BUNGLE", and not "BUNGLE and MLG" at once.)
--This could help get more involved for Groups and Clans alike in the Community.
****Calender or Current/Upcoming Events Marker
-This could be used so that everyone in your clan can see upcoming events or current events in your Clan. This can include play-dates, or clan matches.
--A reminder could be set by choosing the said event and choosing "add reminder", similar to the 1vs100 Beta Reminders, which was featured on the Xbox 360 Dashboard.
Conclusion
I am just bringing up the point that this would be a cool feature, and am in no way implying that this will be implemented. It's just a suggestion or thought on the topic. I am completely up for any suggestions or additions to my Original Post. Thanks.
