No. Sorry, Gears gets old so quickly. I prefer an ACTUAL fps, not a glorified game of whacka'mole. Besides, even the characters in Gears are soo generic.
The OP wants the marine NPCs in this game to be more realistic in terms of soldiers. In Halo games, the marines have always had a comical twist -- nothing bad, so did Gears -- but in Halo 2, it turned into a joke, and in Halo 3, an even bigger joke. They're just not tough anymore. Not marines. A bunch of college kids spouting off bad jokes as their brothers in arms get vaporized by super heated plasma.

I agree with the OP. Halo Reach needs a "Gears" (or "Halo 1") twist on the marines, as opposed to a Halo 2 or 3 feel for them.

Oh, your nice. If you had read my post, you would've seen that I never said "halo is halo". Rather, I stated a flaw I saw in Gears, then I addressed the post by stating that I believe the characters in Gears were generic and annoying. So, how about you consider what I've said before insulting me.

As a side note, I also believe that the NPC marines were at their worst in Halo:CE. The marine that is with you when you save Captain Keyes, yeah, I almost shot him myself.

But he was talking more about the NPCs (marines) which whine the entire game in Halo 2 and 3. Halo 1 had the one guy you were talking about, but at least he wasn't making horrible jokes while his friends died, like the marines spout off continuously in Halo 2 and even more frequently in 3.

Since you're not smart, let me explain the OP for you and all others with your "hay he says gears of -blam!- on halo 3 reach forum u ideot gears is gears and halo is halo KEEP IT THAT WAY" mindframe.

The OP wants the CHARACTERS, aka the marine NPCs, in this game to be more realistic in terms of soldiers. In Halo games, the marines have always had a comical twist -- nothing bad, so did Gears -- but in Halo 2, it turned into a joke, and in Halo 3, an even bigger joke. They're just not tough anymore. I agree with the OP. Halo Reach needs a "Gears" (or "Halo 1") twist on the marines, as opposed to a Halo 2 or 3 feel for them.

If THAT'S what he wanted, he could have said he wants it to be more serious. I wasn't going to reply to this, but you went out of your way to say I'm not intelligent.

Just because you agree with the OP doesn't mean you have that right. I have completed high school, buddy, among other things. I know more than most on this forum when it comes to military subjects because I was in the Army for 2 years. As you can tell, I do NOT like being told I'm not smart by a likely 15 year old.

How about a lesson? You allow others to have an opinion, even if it differs from yours, and don't insult others because of theirs

Now, if you are saying Reach should be more serious, I agree. But I DON'T think the damn story should be about saving another SPARTANs girlfriend from the enemy.

Maybe I was wrong when I said you were unintelligent. Didn't want to sound like a dick (I know I did), but I get so sick of hearing people say things like "don't add that it's in call of doodie and this is HALO it should stay that way" -- like they think Bungie is actually original. NOBODY is original anymore. I'm 20, by the way, not 15.

I think that the game should be more serious too. The OP was talking specifically about the marines, though. In Halo 1 they said the occasional cheesy joke in combat... in Halo 2, they said a whole slew of them. In 3 it's just a non-stop horrible joke-fest... while their buddies are getting killed all around them.

Being that you have been in the Army, I'm sure you know how wrong this is.

Oh, the Gears soldiers have their moments too. I can't recall his name, but the "cowboy" character in Gears 2 made me want to commit suicide. Yeah, I'll admit it, sometime the corny jokes can be annoying, but to an extent, that's what makes bungie games bungie games. They aren't afraid to throw in those corny one liners and occasionally it makes me laugh, so I don't object to those moment, though I do agree it could be toned down a tad.

I agree. All Halo and GOW games have had their share of people who crack jokes -- funny or unfunny. It's just that Halo 2 and 3 have SO MUCH MORE JOKES it makes the combat completely unbelievable. You just don't say those kinds of things right after your squad mate was beaten to death by a 9 foot tall alien gorilla.

reach in my opinion needs to get a gears touch to, more hardcore characters, but still unique, more intensity, no more puss bs like on odst and halo 3, halo ce and 2 were badass games, the feel to them wasnt p u s s y

That would be Dizzy, and he's supposed to be vulgar and someone annoying.

That would be a legitimate complaint if every character acted that way in Gears as do the NPC's in Halo 2/3. Hell, I laughed at what came out of his cowboy ass, but sometimes the groaners in Halo 3 are horrendous.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

Well, gears has a halo touch (two weapons only). So, halo should have a halo touch? Ok.

Sorry, this was me trying to be funny. Since that failed...have a nice day.

Honestly, I don't take the game too seriously as far as Marines dying goes. It's just a video game. Of course, when I'm playing, I try to keep as many alive as I can, and if I accidentally kill one, sometimes I'll revert to last save just to get the guilt off, which is probably too sensitive while playing a game.

I normally play with the IWHBYD skull on, so I never know the difference when the Marines are making a joke.

Yes, I would enjoy Reach that much more if it was more serious. I like to be pulled into a game, so that would be nice. But a game can be serious without being like Gears.

And thank you for taking back what you said about my intelligence. It was mature to admit that it wasn't right to insult.
