I used to get on these forums back in the Halo 1, anticipating Halo 2 days...I'm back :)

If THAT'S what he wanted, he could have said he wants it to be more serious. I wasn't going to reply to this, but you went out of your way to say I'm not intelligent.
Just because you agree with the OP doesn't mean you have that right. I have completed high school, buddy, among other things. I know more than most on this forum when it comes to military subjects because I was in the Army for 2 years. As you can tell, I do NOT like being told I'm not smart by a likely 15 year old.
How about a lesson? You allow others to have an opinion, even if it differs from yours, and don't insult others because of theirs
Now, if you are saying Reach should be more serious, I agree. But I DON'T think the damn story should be about saving another SPARTANs girlfriend from the enemy.Maybe I was wrong when I said you were unintelligent. Didn't want to sound like a dick (I know I did), but I get so sick of hearing people say things like "don't add that it's in call of doodie and this is HALO it should stay that way" -- like they think Bungie is actually original. NOBODY is original anymore. I'm 20, by the way, not 15.
I think that the game should be more serious too. The OP was talking specifically about the marines, though. In Halo 1 they said the occasional cheesy joke in combat... in Halo 2, they said a whole slew of them. In 3 it's just a non-stop horrible joke-fest... while their buddies are getting killed all around them.
Being that you have been in the Army, I'm sure you know how wrong this is.
Honestly, I don't take the game too seriously as far as Marines dying goes. It's just a video game. Of course, when I'm playing, I try to keep as many alive as I can, and if I accidentally kill one, sometimes I'll revert to last save just to get the guilt off, which is probably too sensitive while playing a game.
I normally play with the IWHBYD skull on, so I never know the difference when the Marines are making a joke.
Yes, I would enjoy Reach that much more if it was more serious. I like to be pulled into a game, so that would be nice. But a game can be serious without being like Gears.
And thank you for taking back what you said about my intelligence. It was mature to admit that it wasn't right to insult.
