Im firmly with Mukelo/Capixular on this one. There are hax for HaloCE and certainly some nasty one's in HaloPC. The speedhack has been used by players in publics recently and is getting more prolific.
I know Bungie has nothing to do with HaloCE - this fragmented architecture of responsibility over this game is quite frankly annoying, so I'd like to take this chance to firstly back up claims that there are hax for Halo, and secondly, to please release a patch for HaloPC 1.041, that makes no difference whatsoever to the game of HaloPC, only informs the user upon load that HaloCE firstly exists and secondly, where to get it (link to fileplanet etc...)
There are only a couple of hundred HaloCE players online at any one time, but that is because no HaloPC players know about it. The few that do, do not play it, as they think 'yeh well there are few players on CE anyway'. However, in PC servers, I frequently ask people if they have heard of CE, and most say 'no'.
So please, release a minor patch for HaloPC that pops up a dialog box on load informing the user of HaloCE and a weblink. I know the server message of the day states this, but it is very confusing to the average 13yr old Halo PC player:
"Bungie says: Custom map capable client now available..."
Very few people will understand that.
Please release a quick patch for HaloPC informing users about HaloCE. Then you will see a lot more players shift to HaloCE, this will lead to more mappers/modders caring about developing for CE (Myself included -I have given up modding for CE until more players arrive), which in turn will lead to higher coverage of your game, raising and maintaining sales of HaloPC until Halo2 is released.
This would be very much appreciated. We can discuss hax mitigation later, but first we need the foundation to this game to be in place :D
