I need some help. My friend is setting up a LAN party and it will be the first time that I will play with 16 people. We will probably play every type of gameplay just to round things off. The thing is tough, we are playing for money. my friend won $100 on a scratch off lottery ticket and is putting it up for the pot if you win. Normally I would just play but since that $100 can pay for HALO 2 and FABLE I really need to win. Please post tips that have helped you in the past.

Ok, What i find works the best for all game types, excluding close contact levels, is to use the sniper rifle. It works well for defence on your base in CTF. Also aim for the head when using the pistol. Another trick for the pistol is to fire slowly so it is more accurate, when you fire fast, the accuracy is reduced (make slow shots to the head...not too slow though). Don't be nervous, make sure to stay calm. Also the best trick is to play with your enemy's minds (outside of the game...taunt them).

Plasma rifle all the way baby....and sniper rifles on the big maps of course.
And never forget about using grenades, they can be exceedingly useful.

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

Master the Sniper Rifle and Shotgun for the easier shield settings. If by some chance you happen to play Battle Creek with four hundred percent shield, pick up the Needler and Plasma Rifle. They will save your ass! Try and stay near the teleporters, and if whenever you can, pick up the overshield.

Any gametypes with a shield percent higher than 150%, get in close with an plasma rifle and make them slow down by shooting them. Get in close and whack away. You should probably crouch and jump a lot when you're playing the kind of game I mentioned earlier.

Damn you Americans and your LAN parties and tournements (not flaming by the way, I envy you).

I wish the UK was so fanatical about Halo, but that's probably because our population is much smaller, so there's bound to be less halo gamers.

Oh well, Halo 2 should bring up the numbers a little more.

Here's some tips:
* Grenades are your friends (except if it's someone else's grenade, then run). Use them to your advantage and try and learn "the lob arc" of them. It will help a lot.
* Sniper rifles are probably your biggest threat. The majority of people use sniping the most. You need to watch out for this as it will probably lead to most of your deaths
* When you do die, do it with pride. Take your best shot at taking out your enemy (grenade works best).
* Stay calm and don't give in to any abuse you get (corpse humping, verbal abuse etc.). If you get some, keep a straight face and don't crack. But feel free to send some abuse back when you achieve something good (score a point, kill, win etc.)

Get the rocket launcher, and keep moving. If someone is sniping you, run around, jumping back and forth. It works to waste their sniper ammo if they aren't an expert with the sniper rifle, and keep you alive. When they have to reload, get out of sight, and if you managed to see where they were sniping from, double back and take them out.

Thanks for the tips although I won't have to worry about snipers too much because I'm pretty much the only one with any skill.
