What is the point of having an M rated game if it feels like I'm playing Elmo's World? Most noticeably was ODST. How many lame, stupid remarks did we hear? "Dang it!" "I'm going to shove my boot up your -blam!-!" "Oh Crap!" and my favorite from Kazingo Boulevard... Mickey says "Son of a Gun!" FAIL FAIL FAIL!

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

What, so they should be swearing their faces off instead? That would be worse.

As for the "son of a gun" line, that's meant to be comical.

Its a trap!!!

really is cursing that important. Its 2009 cursing lost its shock value in the early 90s. Especially since it worked its way more into mainstream television.

Its rated M mainly because its a shooter and now a days shooting games without proper parental control can cause a kid to shoot up a school. Especially if he listens to maralyn manson and likes to wear all black

well I was being a bit sarcastic but that is part of the reason the ESRB rates it like that

You can have subtle profanity every now and then and it adds realism, it's a game about war and tragedy it should be used., and I didn't say it had to be over-used as you described. Just because ur little ears don't like BLAM words then perhaps you should 'mature' a little. Rated M for mature.

Chunky_Lover's Average Joe Interview

Bungie All Star Contest Winner Weeks 6,8 and 12

An M Rating isnt an automatic flag to "Go Nuts".

The reason why Halo is rated Mature is because of the humanoid appendages and dead bodies of figures.

Not everyone needs to use swear words to make them sound like a bad ass you know.

Don't assume I'm a little kid because I don't care for swearing. We hear it so often in society it really doesn't phase most people. I always felt that swearing in games felt forced and unnatural. In Halo and games like it, while the dialogue isn't perfect, it flows quite nicely.

Beware the smiley face! =D

While i agree that the language would be a bit worse on a battlefield, I dont think its really nessecary. So what if they dont swear? The dialogue in ODST was well done, and the son of a gun line was supposed to be comical.

It might be an M rated game, but that dosent mean they HAVE to swear. As far as i know the only reason Halo was given an M rating in the first place was the Flood.

exactly. and I hate it when bands that I like suddenly start swearing in their new songs or add them in concert. it's stupid, and it's starting to seem childish to me.
