As the title says, I think the Covenant should be more cruel. This does not have anything with the brutes to do accept that they are a part of the covenant. I mean that the covenant should du things that realy make you hate them e.g. an elite brake the neck of a civilian, some drones is eating the remains of a human, a brute can pick up a marine and assault him real bad... I stuff like this is important because it makes you realise why you should hate the covenant, because after Halo 2 you didn't realy hate the elites, this is bungies chanse to make the covenant look cruel! Thing like this doesn't have to be usual but at least something like this should happen once or twice...

EDIT: Humans can also have some cruel stuff because we are not the good guys either, and marines could be realy cruel to e.g. grunts and jackals...

-...you are a gigantic female genitalia sanitizing apparatus.

Actually dude, stuff like Brutes ripping marines arms off was supposed to happen, but it just didn't make the cut cause it was too situational.

Well, it being cut in the first place should tell you it's not very likely to happen.

Well, if there is a lot of people agreeing with me, then they will maybe put it in reach...

I think both sides should be brutal. We aren't the good guys. There are no good guys in the war. I bet some humans could also be cruel with some aliens, everything depends of each character.

stuff like this is important because it makes you realise why you should hate the covenant,

But you shouldn't hate the Covenant. You are just a perfect soldier, following orders. You are killing them not out of some personal vendetta, but because you must, and because you are ordered to. Makes the game more realistic if the tone that is set also matches the motives of the main character.

Another example, in Gears, the locusts killed Dom's wife. He has a right to be pissed off. If he was quiet throughout the campaign, that would seem rather odd right? You'd expect him to be cursing the locusts at every turn and slaughtering them for what they did to his family. Brutal things makes sense in this case, since it matches the mood of the game.

Do you see what I'm saying? Sure, small animations for your enemies for when they are not in combat make the game more realistic, but it shouldn't be everywhere.

I think Bungie should show the true brutality of some of the covenant.

Yes, I agree. And yes, you should hate them because if humanety didn't hate them they would probably lost the war. I like to say that "Love and Hate are the most powerfull things we have, it makes things worth fighting for"

But you aren't playing as humanity, you are playing a 7 foot tall weapon that was trained to not let things like anger get in the way of completing his mission since he was six.

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

FYI....His wife wasn't killed by them, just tortured. You find her on the one level and Dom puts her out of her misery because she is basically catatonic.

There is no such thing as a human without fealings, that is a zombie... But I agree that letting anger get in the way would be unprofesional, but it would make the game more awsome and it would make you personaly hate the covenant, I didn't mean that the spartans would do some sort of personal war...

  • 11.04.2009 10:07 AM PDT

well normal marines can do vicious things, and the spartans are trained to be ruthless. they know the covenant wont surrender and they dont intend to give them the chance. think of how ruthless modern special forces are. then train them from childhood...

Time to die.

I want a sneak around mission, around one corner, a shadow of a Brute grabbing a marine by the collar and ramming his arm into him to pull out his heart, then throwing him right infront of you, coming out to finish his feast, you killing him from behind, NAO TADZ A GUD PEES OV CAMPAIN

  • 11.04.2009 10:30 AM PDT

not cruel, merciless. they would take no prisoners, but wouldnt try to cause unnecessary suffering. just a bullet through the skull

Wherever you roam
so far from home
you'll be safe from peril
life threatening and terrible
if you avoid David Powel
and keep track of your towel.

The Covenant do do most of the things you described if you would just pay attention.

In Halo 3 I've seen a Brute bend a marine backwards, in ODST I've seen Drones eating human corpses.

Use the quote button in the future.

The Brute does that in The Storm just prior to the encounter with the Hunters.

The Drones do that in Data Hive, if you don't charge in guns blazing you may see them huddled around human bodies and dipping their heads down to them.

Ok, maybe I should look that up...

Anyways, I think that the covenant should be more cruel, does anyone else agree

  • 11.04.2009 11:26 AM PDT

lolnope.

I'm going to be honest here, I think that they should add more climactic scences between marine torture and brutes. But thats about it.
