Y'know, if the two of us sat in a room and talked things over, I bet you we'd get around to the point where one of us would kill the other. No one wants LAN inconsistency, but who the hell actually prefers a system of options like Dual-Wielding eliminated from the game?
Anyway, Brutes are welcome in Reach, by my book. But I want Elites, too. I want all of them in there, and I want it in a ratio that's fun. I think it'd be great fun if Elites and Brutes were both given the commanding role and both made their troops behave differently; and in campaign, they'd be generated randomly (a given squad might be unled, led by Elites, or led by Brutes, varying from game to game). It'd be a good, interesting way to vary the gameplay. Of course, changing the dynamic of Brutes to distinguish them from Elites is important too.
What I don't want in Halo: Reach is... a Plasma Pistol that does no damage when fully charged. Yes, it drains shields. But it should also hurt. Why doesn't it hurt? It's a huge overcharge of plasma. It should be able to kill you if your shields are out. Halo: Combat Evolved was pretty good with it, but it was only particularly useful for taking out Grunts.
