Yes, having the option would be nice:  45%

I would really like to see music in multiplayer as an OPTIONAL thing. I personally get very bored in a lot of matches, and playing many video games period, because there is no background noise. Normally I watch TV to supplement this, but I find I can't now days. So instead I turned to listening to music on my hard drive. It relaxes me during matches and I enjoy it a lot. All I can think, though, is "I would love this to be halo music." Sure I could DL the halo soundtrack onto my hard drive but that takes a bit of space which I am running short of. So I was thinking that it would be cool if you had an option to turn on and off music (like the soundtrack) during multiplayer on XBL, or sound effects like once you grab the flag a big crescendo of music happens and leads your team all the way until you cap the flag then stops with a successful tune once you cap it. I think that would be quite awesome.

Plus it would give Marty something to do :D

What do you guys think?

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

Yeah! CoD's subtle background music keeps you more alert than Halo 3's repeated echoing clicking of a distant BR.

Note: There should be different music for each map, to match the mood. Think Halo CE.

I agree, and it makes it more fun, I think. You get more excited.

I played Halo CE music during a Slayer match on a remake of the Silent Cartographer (by me), and it felt great.

Subtle backround music, yes. A fullfleged music menu, theoretically, yes, practically, no.

You already do have the option to play music during multiplayer.

Hit the Guide button and go over to the media tab, if you have the music on your xbox you can play it.

And stop comparing Halo to COD, the reason why they are both succesful games is cause they are different from each other.

Did you read my original post?

And they are both different for gameplay reasons, just cause both games could theoretically both have multiplayer soundtracks doesn't mean we want them both to be the same, or are necessarily comparing them, we are using COD as an example of successful use of this dynamic.

Did you even read mine? Cause I didnt quote you.

I was speaking in general, you can play the music, you can change it to fit the mood. It would cool to have, but you can do it right now, its not automatic.

But if you wanna be a grouch about it, it would be bad in Multiplayer cause all multiplayer fights are short, it would have enough time to fade in then fade out.

Only argument you can use against my too short part is that it can play during the whole game, which again you can already do.

Also I only mentioned COD cause lately everyone has been trying to get Halo to be more like COD, like at the threads on the first page for proof. Its not just about this dynamic, its about people wanting Halo to be COD. Its annoying and is not gonna happen.

I was confused why you made that point because I clearly answered it in the first post of this thread. It takes up space, takes time, and also it costs money that I would already be paying for the game.

And like I said, in my first post, it would be more for things like the objective, or when you get a killing frenzy, or perhaps when your teammates start getting shot at. I didn't predict how it would be used because I know that if they decided to do this, and they likely wont, Bungie would do it better then I could think of and in there own way.

And also, I never said it should be like CoD, nor did I imply that, nor did the small portion of the thread that you read (which as of now I am guessing is the poll question and the answers) said it either. Don't judge the individual for the things the masses do.

Sure it would be nice, my friends are always complaining about the fact that there is no music.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

You know, if you have a PC, it's not that hard to link your Xbox to it and stream music through Windows Media center. Or just use a flash-drive. I used to former all the time when H3 came out. I'd play the sound track again and again while playing.

"You got 2 years of cl1t deepening you mean?"
"Uh. Wut?"
"..."
"Do you know what a cl1t is, dear?"
"LAWL SO SIGGING THIS -blam!-!"

Just like Firefight in ODST. At the start it's a really eerie feeling. I was playing it once and got a little shiver.

Great idea OP I would love it.
