So, since anyone who can read knows who the characters are in the advert, do you think that Reach will offer us a chance to play as each character like in Halo 3: ODST? Will the story be the same as the book?

No.

Same setting as the book.
Same timeline as the book.

However, the game will not follow the protagonists of the book.

The best way to make the game interesting and original for both fans of the series and books and for newcomers is to focus on a squad of five spartans who were never focused on in the book.

Afterall, the book doesn't introduce you to each and every spartan that fought in Reach, nor does it explore what happened to each and every one of them.

I think the best option would be to focus on the half of Blue team that was on the planet's surface.

Also, there are very, VERY few Spartans left at the time of Reach.

Blue team, possibly Gray Team, and a few individual Spartans, not counting the Spartan-III's.

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

There are 12 Spartans from Red Team, Team Bravo(according to FoR , 15 if we use the number we get from FS) who are unnamed and we know nothing about. I would like the game to feature them and explain what happened to them since none of the Novels mentions them. Hell, most of the people who read the novels don't even know that they exist. They just focus on the known (named) Spartans.

Hold on, now. It's been a while since I've read the original trilogy, and I don't have them available. Anywhere you could cite this from?

Only thing that is confirmed is that you will play as a spartan in a squad of five spartans in the campaign.

The rest is just logic. Those of us who read the books don't want to play "Check the boxes" while playing reach.

"Oh, now they are in the pelican. Check that box. Next they'll be bailing out and landing ont he planet, ah, here it comes check. Now time for surfing on the banshee..."

By focusing on unknown characters, you can make a unique and exciting story that doesn't crush the established canon.

You cant really cite it from anywhere but you can do the math by taking pieces here and there and placing them in the correct parts of the puzzle.

They mention on FoR that there are 25 Active Spartans. From FS, we learn later how Red team is divided up. and this is what i came up with.

Blue Team: 3 Spartans (John, Linda, James)

Red Team: 22 Spartans - 1 KIA (Malcom)
- Team Alpha: 3 Spartans (Fred, Kelly, Joshua)
- Team Beta: 12 Spartans (Unkown)
- Team Gamma: 3 Spartans (Anton, Li, Grace)
- Team Delta: 3 Spartans (Will, Vinh, Isaac)

Blue team (as in the entire team, not the divisions used for the Reach operation) include most of the people you're mentioning. This also doesn't account for Grey Team or the few individual Spartans in the outer colonies.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think so.

Im using the designation used in the book. The terms Blue/Red and Alpha/Beta/Gamma/Delta don't really carry much weight since they are just a name. The members used in the teams change constantly.

As for what you mentioned, this doesn't account for Grey Team. But i believe it was stated on Reach that 25 was the number of Spartans in the briefing room. Don't quote me on that though since i don't have the book close by and that little team chart i made up there I made over a year ago.

Too often, people post on forums and just regurgitate what they've seen already and don't really explain their own views. - achronos

personally no but ALOT of people think so.
