Subject: Halo Reach Is Just Another Halo?

I am very worried now...here in the forums we had some amazing ideas that would of innovated the Halo francise, From true sandbox and openworld gameplay from the likes of GTA and for multiplayer epic battles and huge battles and full map editors this all seems to be vanishing....i was hopeing for a drastic and huge improvement of Halo by adding never before and innovative ideas. For the guy who has played he said this.....i am not going to post the link but head over to CVG website there's a article about this recent buzz on the internet.. he said the Overall gameplay was about the same as the other Halos...to read how he described the level go to CVG website, it seems the same layout of traditional Halo games.

This all seems the Halo we all know, nothing new here...just some new weapons. I really hope now Bungie come and say its fake, but i really doubt it.

Well I hope it's not another Call of Duty.

I didn't read anything past your first paragraph, so all I'm going to say is to not set your expectations or thoughts on the game by some random guy's possible opinions.

Well, that guy didn't leak the screenies so I refuse to trust whatever he says but his point about the third level goes hand in hand with the little preview pic of the level you see in one of the pics.

I would not believe anything beyond those pics at this point. Information is coming, of that I am sure.

"This is for the Chief....wherever the hell he is"
--Sgt. Avery Johnson, Firefight

"This is for HARVEST...that's right I got a long memory"
--Sgt. Avery Johnson, Firefight

Every Halo has that same Halo feel to it, each newer Halo has different features and innovations thought up by the minds at Bungie. But this is all good, we love Halo, that Halo feel, it we didn't we wouldn't bother coming back.

In Halo 2 we say greatly improved graphics, new weapons, new enemies, new worlds, the Chief had new abilities.

In Halo 3 we saw all of the above and more.

In ODST we saw much of Halo 3 but not all, we lost some abilities but also gained some really cool ones, VISR, FireFight, Automag, M7 SMG.

In Reach I'm sure the trend will be the same and I for one cannot effin' wait for Fall of 2010. But my opinions are biased...I love Halo, the story, the characters, the game. Its my Star Wars...

The less than a second latency of online play is a better system to play off of than more health.

You realize this system is just as host based, right? because if you're fighting host, or someone with a better connection to host, and you each start firing at the same time, his BULLETS will register first, giving him slightly more health if the melees happen at the same time.

So would you rather have the BS of both, or just one?

Nah we don't know if bungie will actually respond to this leak by advancing their official information flood schedule. We could just see them stone wall it till they feel like releasing info.

Also, OP please edit your post to not have spoilers.

Obviously it's another Halo and that's a good thing. Halo is still one of the top shooters on any console. Bungie has made a great formula regarding gameplay, they could spend all the resources on graphics and leave the gameplay mostly untouched because it's already near-perfect.

yh i agree but we need some major innovative additions, from the likes of Halo 3 forge and theatre? those were big additions to Halo 3, can Halo Reach top that? only way i think is make forge a full map editor and theatre ame it even better with special effects and in-game editing like say Uncharted.

Why do people not understand they are still in Alpha testing. There is alot they still have to do, alpha testing is usually nothing like the game will be when it comes out, maps get changed, weapons get changed, things get pulled.

And its one guy, who could of been a COD fan boy.

Back when EDGE was rumored to have the Cover Story, Sketch mentioned that something was in the pipe to be released this year, alluding to something around Christmas.

All in all, I'm sure there were things leaked in those pictures, things that we've already picked up on, that has put some sort of dent on their PR plans.

Expecting some sort of allusion to these events in the BWU.

Halo Reach Is Just Another Halo?

duh

yes its another halo, thats why its called HALO reach. Why do people come on here and hope bungie will make a whole different game?? They will do that when they release a game not called Halo.

Clearly because the desktop uses a 3 prong plug and a laptop uses a 2 prong plug, the microwave will fill your car with tostitos better

You sound surprised.

The majority of suggestions on this forum haven't been implementable because this forum came out when the the game has been mostly finished. I mean, they have a lot of work to do, but they have been in the polishing stage for a while.

I have been happy with every iteration of the Halo series, and I've always felt they sufficiently added enough new features and tweaks to consider them sequels. In fact, I think the Halo series has done more innovations per iteration than any other FPS/TPS series. Call of Duty MW2 is essentially the same as CoD, with a new setting and multiplayer unlocks. Gears of War 2 added like 2 guns and horde mode. Uncharted 2 changed nothing at all about the campaign, just added a new story, but they did add a multiplayer mode. You see where this is going.

Halo has added close to 10 weapons, vehicle jacking, vehicle damage, removed fall damage, added dual weilding, 4 player online co-op, new vehicles, melee weapons with lock-on, homing rockets, detachable turrets, firefight, forge, matchmaking itself was pretty much invented by bungie, the open-world campaign concept in ODST, equipment, and more.

That said, they're not going to throw the baby out with the bath water. Halo: Reach will use a new engine, but it will still look and feel like Halo. Rest assured, they will definitely add new and innovative features to spice it up, just like they always have; But with it being their last outing, they're not going to risk RADICALLY changing up the formula and upsetting their fans.
