I was thinking about a new kind of gametype it could be called protection, although i'm open to suggestions.

It would be 4 vs 4 and the idea is simple, the defending team has 4 computer controlled ODSTs to protect in their home base. The defending teams' job is to keep the ODSTs alive thorugh a round of lets say 3 mins. The attackers on the other hand have to kill the ODSTs. Points are awarded at the end of the round for every ODST killed / saved. The attackers and defenders then switch roles, to a total of four rounds.

What do you think?

I want hot potato. Some one is forced to carry a bomb, and they are a little bit faster then other people, and it is a FFA gametype. There is no damage dealt at all. The bomb has a countdown, and if you are holding it when it goes off, you die. So to pass it on you either touch someone else, or like beat them with the bomb.

When the person gets the bomb they are paralyzed for a couple seconds, and the person who just had the bomb is still fast for a couple of seconds, this is to avoid those childish games of tag, where you are so close to each other and you just tag back and forth until you think it is dumb and just stop playing.

Obviously this game would only be for Customs and not for matchmaking.

There is nothing wrong with Halo:Reach. We all just have our gripes about everything we don't like. Not liking something doesn't make it broken.

Interesting. Allow me to change it up a bit though please, as having AI in MM has been mentioned to be an impossibility in the past by Bungie themselves.

Defending team must defend a group of four generators. These generators have decent shielding (Overshields x3) and a weak autoturret.

Attacking team must destroy these Generators.


The rest is the same as yours.

As I see it, programming a pea-shooter auto-turret attached to a generator is MUCH easier and easier on connections then an ODST soldier would be.

I like you idea OP, but I don't think that type of thing is as easy to make happen as it is to say it.

Yes, but some players would prefer an idea of this type as there are multiple things to attack/defend and none of them are a teammate.

People hated VIP because of the bad luck that comes with it. Getting a clueless VIP, or one who wants to rambo about without help. That sort of thing.

In this case, one may would be defending/attacking a stationary, specific object.

Bots wouldn't work. I like the idea though. Read my original post, I augmented HIS idea with a touch of realistic thinking.

I believe people would take to this type of thing better then VIP as defending something that ISN'T a teammate removes part of what made VIP a pain.

Yes. All in all, my idea sounds like super-complicated Assault game or Territory game.

It would be neat to have this as an Alternative to Assault and such, being able to place a Structure which must be fired upon to be destroyed.

You could make this with multiple VIP's which would be better cause cause they're not AI. (Can you have multiple VIP's on a team? I haven't messed around with vip too much.)

What I'd like to see is multi-team infection.

You mean like Humans, then two different zombie groups?

....I could see that that could be interesting. You could make one group uber and slow, the other quick and stealthy. Humans gotta survive, zombies compete for food.

They would call it 'Alien versus predator'...Cuz whoever wins, humans lose.

This sounds like VIP. And can be done with VIP as well.

yeah lol but the zombies can also infect eachother. so when the humans run out they just fight until one team wins :D

difference is, in VIP, you run the risk of having a VIP have one of many types of dangerous medical symptoms.

The 'Rambo' complex: "HEY GUYS IM VIP IM GONNA GO MAGNUM THE GUYS IN THE PATY HILL IN VALHALLA!!!"

The 'HUURP' disease: "GUYS LOL HE IS SHOOTING ME WUT DO I DO IM GONNA HIDE CAN I GRAB INVIS?"

The "..." cancer: "I'm VIP? Screw this. *quits game*"



See? With a specific, non-player VIP like this, you have something a little different, even if the point is the same.
