Subject: Change the sniper in reach please!!!

The sniper should'nt even be called a sniper it is a close quarters no-scope machine. Thats all people do i went into team snipers and still got no-scoped. Bungie really needs to make it very ineffective in anything but long range.

I'll be on my own side.

How would this work? Make it so the rifle doesn't fire unless you're a certain distance away? That's retarded. It's not the weapon that has an issue, it's the way people choose to use it.

  • 11.06.2009 3:57 PM PDT

Team snipers is a different matter as you have infinite ammo, but usually if you try to run around no scoping you are just wasting ammo.

You have other weapons that can kill people at close range, you are wasting your specialty ammo on threats you can eliminate with common weapons.

You'll find yourself with a flag carrier running across the map and a BR to try to take them out at long range.

~Drake Sykes Hellion

So you DON'T want it to shoot perfectly straight?...and you also DON'T want it to have a miniscule reticle?...

...DON'T...

I'm the cult of personality,
I call it like i see it, if i feel the need to be blunt and to the point, then i will, if i feel the need to be very detailed, i will, im here to stay and im here to do things my way, if you respect that or not is your choice, not mine,
and don't worry, while i don't agree with everyone's opinion, i do respect everyone's opinion.

ya lets make it so the sniper doesn's do any damage unless you have to zoom in to see the target...oh and lets make it so when you hit your target a message pops up that says. "GRRREAT SNIPE!!!! your so pro" just so you feel better about yourself.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite airstrike.

It is already very ineffective. BRs and Carbines make good anti-sniper weapons and under combined fire a sniper will be hard-pressed to kill. Automatics and scatterguns will defeat sniper as well.

No-scoping is hardly something to be worried about. If it happens, luck is simply not with you, or you charged straight at him with no strafing and flak.

Sieg Zeon

he wants it to be call of duty's sniper, where unless ur scoping for the most part u arnt gonna hit -blam!-, and that would be -blam!- as hell in halo

  • 11.06.2009 4:00 PM PDT

"The next time you see me, I'll be stabbing you to death! Okay?"

I'd bet you'd like it if the sniper made people stand still when using it too, huh?

  • 11.06.2009 4:02 PM PDT

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

If you wanted to nerf it you could make the aiming reticle wider while it isn't in scope mode. But personally I like the sniper the way it is because getting no-scopes (even if just luck) is pretty gratifying.

Kris Damkohler

totally agree, team snipes isnt sniping, its spamming infinite sniping bullets, body shots and -blam!- ass no scopeing.

Doesnt stop me from beingood at it :P

They gotta make the bullet scatter when moving sorta like in COD.

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

Perhaps by taking the reticle away. For a Forum Ninja you sure are dim-witted.

People would just put a dot on their screen for where the reticule would go though.

Or, just spread when out of the scope.

Pretty much.

As I said earlier, no scoping isn't a problem in normal games where the ammo in the sniper is limited, as they are bending their saw out of shape by using it instead of a hammer to pound in nails.

But what do you expect when you encounter someone up close and you only have a sniper? Retreat to a farther distance and then fire? Blindly firing and hoping for a headshot is a natural response.

But at such a close range, you'd still probably hit something. It might not be a headshot, but two body shots still kill. Unless the spread was so large that it didn't make any sense, like 90 degree spread.

It takes good aim to noscope, especially if the other guy is far away and not on level ground with you. I think the sniper functions perfectly in H3.

I never understood why snipers in CoD and other games would have a random spread if you hipfired them. A sniper rifle in real life fires accurately no matter how you use it (scope or without scope attached). Nerfing snipers just to prevent noscopes is a stupid idea.

Make the rate of fire slower or make ir 3 bodyshots to kill.

"Everything works itself out. The only thing that matters is whether you want it to or not."

Last Refuge - Operation Phoenix is in effect. From the ashes, we will rise.

No-scoping is pretty hard unless you've got practice, but even then you've still got a tiny reticule. I mean, like Nedus said, making the sniper not shoot in close range would be retarded. Having it have this massive reticule in close range would be retarded. The Halo Sniper is fine as is, it's already got a long reload time and time between firing.

"You must be mistaken, Reclaimer. I've met your makers, and they don't even know your name..."

Or they could keep the stats the same and just remove the reticule from the HUD when the sniper isn't scoped.

Do you have a laser pointer? Go make a dot on your wall, then point the laser pointer so that the laser hits the dot. Then, turn off the laser, and try to keep the pointer aimed at the dot for five minutes. Then, turn back on the laser and see how far off you are from the dot.

Its not that the gun magically has spread when you aren't looking down the scope. Its that normal human beings can't just aim something at a steady rate without a point of reference.
