I know this won't happen, but it's just my dream game.

If you have played Borderlands (which I hope you have because its amazing) then you will know exactly what I am talking about. Now, I don't want the random weapons or cartoony graphics to carry over, just the progression and missions.

Progression
This would be what has been dubbed an FPS-RPG (First-person Shooter Role-playing Game) in the Halo universe on Reach. In Borderlands, you progress through leveling and obtaining skill points, which I think should go right into Reach. These skill points, in Borderlands, are used to increase your main attacking power ability, but this would not work in Reach as Spartans do not have special ability things. What the points could be used for however are things like Short-range Wep. Dmg, Mid-Range Wep. Dmg, Long-Range Wep. Dmg, Speed, Jump Height, and other stuff.

Multiplayer
Now in Borderlands, your character is constant whether you are playing by yourself or with your friends. Since Halo has something else in addition to campaign, multiplayer, this could add a whole new concept to FPSRPG's - bring your character from campaign into MM. This would mean everyone would have their own individual characters with the same MM we love. Obviously, youu would only play with people who are around the same level as you to make sure it wouldn't be unfair.

Missions
For missions in Reach, I am not completeley sure how it would work, but it could be a mix between open world and the "straight ahead" gameplay in Halo. There could be a hub-town where missions can be chosen. You would then be taken to the scene via pelican and the classic Halo-style mission would begin. After you completed the five or so mission in that city, something would happen causing you to be moved to the next city (Covenant overwhelm city, Riots, etc.). You would be in a new hub-city with new missions that could be completed in any order. If you were wondering, this is pretty much how ODST played out, just with more than one city. The cities themselves could also have small missions in them such as suppressing a riot or eliminating an invading force.

If this was all done right (which Bungie definately could do right) it would be one of the most epic and fun games of all time.

Please give feedback but refrain from the "this isn't Borderlands" crap. If you vote, please post too. =)

A Halo FPS RPG? Yes. Halo: REACH as an FPS RPG? No.

I really don't see how a Spartan could possibly level up..... I also dislike the idea that a BR in one players hands is somehow more powerful than in the hands of another.

It works for Borderlands but I don't think Halo is very fitting for that sort of gameplay. I like knowing that if I shoot this guy in the head when he has no shields the bullet will hit him and he will die.

Its a GAME. People can't level up in reeal life but they do it all the time in games. Its all for the fun, not the... whatever it is made you say that

Nosy little sucker aren't you?

My friend and my brother were playing Borderlands earlier, and it looked pretty cool. I dunno how it would work for Halo.

I would, however, like to see a 3rd-person shooter from Halo some day... or maybe they could make the first ever 2nd-person shooter.

...wait...

I can level up in real life, I'm a level 45 Flash Designer. But I don't want to level up in Halo. Everyone starting and dying equally works well and is one of the enduring features of Halo. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or a veteran, if you point that rocket launcher at the other guys face and fire he will die.

Hmm, adding some sort of RPG stats like system is not going over well in my head.

I don't really see it working for an FPS like Reach.

An FPS in the halo world wouldn't really work given the lack of weapons issued in the UNSC and covenant forces.

Pandora in Borderlands was pretty much a landfill for guns from the major corporations like Atlas, Maliwan and Dahl.

There was going to be a Halo game but it was canceled. look it up on Halopedia

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed, knowing better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives: not men, for flags.
"The Next War"

I would prefer Reach to be like a Halo game. Seriously, why fix it if it isn't broke? (Not flaming any of your ideas, I just think that the current style of FPS works just fine.)

MLG would overpower all...

Don't get me wrong, I love Borderlands. But Halo like that just wouldn't work.

Whilst it does sound tempting, I have to say no. It's just unfair if others are stronger, faster and better than you because of a level. Halo Reach has been dubbed an FPS by Bungie, and hopefully will not support any other genres. Maybe in a later Halo game, perhaps?

It's better to be judged by twelve, than to be carried by six.

Please keep your Borderlands outta my Halo. Thanks.
