Poll: Would you like a Borderlands - style game? [closed]
Total Votes: 48
I know this won't happen, but it's just my dream game.
If you have played Borderlands (which I hope you have because its amazing) then you will know exactly what I am talking about. Now, I don't want the random weapons or cartoony graphics to carry over, just the progression and missions.
Progression
This would be what has been dubbed an FPS-RPG (First-person Shooter Role-playing Game) in the Halo universe on Reach. In Borderlands, you progress through leveling and obtaining skill points, which I think should go right into Reach. These skill points, in Borderlands, are used to increase your main attacking power ability, but this would not work in Reach as Spartans do not have special ability things. What the points could be used for however are things like Short-range Wep. Dmg, Mid-Range Wep. Dmg, Long-Range Wep. Dmg, Speed, Jump Height, and other stuff.
Multiplayer
Now in Borderlands, your character is constant whether you are playing by yourself or with your friends. Since Halo has something else in addition to campaign, multiplayer, this could add a whole new concept to FPSRPG's - bring your character from campaign into MM. This would mean everyone would have their own individual characters with the same MM we love. Obviously, youu would only play with people who are around the same level as you to make sure it wouldn't be unfair.
Missions
For missions in Reach, I am not completeley sure how it would work, but it could be a mix between open world and the "straight ahead" gameplay in Halo. There could be a hub-town where missions can be chosen. You would then be taken to the scene via pelican and the classic Halo-style mission would begin. After you completed the five or so mission in that city, something would happen causing you to be moved to the next city (Covenant overwhelm city, Riots, etc.). You would be in a new hub-city with new missions that could be completed in any order. If you were wondering, this is pretty much how ODST played out, just with more than one city. The cities themselves could also have small missions in them such as suppressing a riot or eliminating an invading force.
If this was all done right (which Bungie definately could do right) it would be one of the most epic and fun games of all time.
Please give feedback but refrain from the "this isn't Borderlands" crap. If you vote, please post too. =)
