I don't know about you people, but in my opinion Halo seems rather...childish in many ways (Why is it rated M anyways?) and I would like to see a Halo game (maybe Reach? most likly not) that is more dark and depressing.

There are so many instances in events of the Halo story line (not just the games)where it would have been rather gory, rather frighting, rather dark and depressing.

So what are your thoughts?

i agree, make it darker. even the colors in 3 were ungodly bright and the story is supposed to be about an alliance of aliens committing genocide against the human race. Also it would make skulls like grunt b-day more fun (as long is it had the same voice and colors)

I understand that Halo: CE was due for completion only a few weeks after 9/11, so that made them take a step back and realize just how tasteless their violent video games really were.

Agreed.

Dear god no!
That would be one of the worst thing to happen to the franchise!

Yes, worse than Halo: Legends!

Halo 3 was too colourful for me, so I simply lowered the brightness, and BAM!, you've got a darker Halo.

XD

But really, it works. The descreased lighting makes it all a lot grittier, and more down-to-earth.

Its already bad enough that people consider halo to be "the most generic FPS of all time", we don't need them -blam!-ing about how we ripped of GoW's and WaW's grittiness and have all of the characters walking around in big ass power suits with chins the size of mini-vans a la GoW2...

Part of what keeps Halo different is its cartoonish style and COLOR! (ODST excluded, but they were going for noir, which is accpetable)

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

In today's world where almost every shooter out there uses gritty as a selling point it's nice having a FPS that doesn't fap to the word gritty.

I guess, I would not mind if Halo stayed the way it is, I have been perfectly fine with it.

I want both Day and Dark maps and the ones at Night with REAL night vision.

Yes halo reach should have a much darker feel. I mean, looking back at the games, makes you wonder; how did we, with all this weaponry, lose to them?

I mean look at the scarab, one person can just jump on kill three brutes single handedly and destroy and exposed power core barely armored, those things are supposed to be scare, to be feared for all the havoc they were supposed to wreak.

Gears of war had the right idea, making you feel completely outnumbered (and they gave you the reason why were winning too) because they were desperate they were beginning to botch their attacks and rushing into well defended spots which is why the humans were winning in the end. (besides that flood n all <_<).

Bottom line is, you should be more scared of rushing into the fight, you shouldnt feel so confident at running towards a guy who has a shotgun or so. Halo needs more weapons that nearly kill you if you're not careful.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Why do people assume war is fought only at night, with rain, and with sad music all over? War has no mood, and it has no feelings.

Make it sad when Reach is being glassed and when other Spartans die (if we see them die). Other than that, I want to kick ass.

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

Says the goth lol but seriously I agree.

And what Viper said above :)

I don't know. It just doesn't seem covenant without Shiny Metal in the Violet color spectrum.

...And when i am standing there, watching as the slingshot is cranked back into the shadows, a smile will bestow upon my face as I softly whisper one word..."blam...."

It does not have to have sad music, at night, or with rain, it just needs to be more...adult.

Well, that's a surprising idea coming from B.net's goth.
In reality I am either emotionless or rather happy, I am just saying that a game that has an alien alliance killing all of humanity should be rather depressing.

But I'm fine with the what it is now.

The only thing I want more adult in this game is less joking around with the Marines (except when IWHBYD is on) and more gore.

Depressing scenes and music =/= more adult.

I agree, if it had less jokes and more gore then it would be perfect for me.

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

It would be great if the game was a bit more aphotic, but they should not increase gore. Such added bloodshed would be extremely unnecessary. The feel of Halo has been set, I would be happy if the lighting was just changed to a small degree making the game have a slightly more obfuscous vibe to it.

I know it is in Bungie's nature to joke around and have fun with their games, but Reach is the largest defeat the UNSC suffered. It needs to be serious.

That's why IWHBYD is a skull. If I wanted to listen to Marines advising other Marines to not eat donuts, I would turn that skull on.
