Subject: So, Is Halo's story plot completely dead after Reach?

Ok, i would like a 2nd ODST, and i want the Rookie and Mickey to die. I hated mickey as he was not a memorable character. However i felt like it was necessary that the Rookie died. Just to tie off the game with a bow. That did not happen in ODST so i think it should happen in a next one.

I would love a more updated version of marathon... in ways.
I can't stop playing it and i want to download the xbox live version.
But i think it's the graphics of the game that make it just that much more interesting.

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Even Reach is uncertain for me. After that it's the end.

Unless 343 makes an amazing KOTOR-styled game or Halo Battlefront. Halo Battlefront could even be without breaking canon if it focused on the fights we've seen so far

You can pick the pearls out of crap. Ignore the rest. I ignore the Halo books without problem

HALO: JOHNSON

  • 11.07.2009 1:17 AM PDT

Its a trap!!!

A remake of Halo CE. Improved graphics keep all the originals add some weapons like laser, beam rifle, carbine, H3 needler, H3 fuel rod, H3 sniper with night vision, Halo 2 sword unless original weapons are nerfed to be more like h3s strenght, BR for extra mid to go along M6D and Carbine

Add a scarab battle in 2 betrayals. Have some jackal snipers, Elites with carbines, Hunters with all the good qualities from all the halo games. Swords wont disintegrate, can pick up sentinel beams

Other then just adding a few enemies and weapons for extra fun and difficulty keep mostly every thing about the missions the same.

As much as Bungie and some fans wouldn't want it to End after Reach. i think they should stop making any Halo related games, but perhaps help create movies.

With that logic they should stop making Call of Duty games as well. How many do they have? let us count:

Call of Duty
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 3
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty: World at War
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Call of Duty 7
Call of Duty: United Offensive
Call of Duty: Finest Hour
Call of Duty 2: Big Red One
Call of Duty: Roads to Victory
Call of Duty: World at War: Final Fronts
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized
Modern Warfare 2: Ghost

woah, and people are still buying them?

That doesn't mean they shouldn't have stopped making them...

I think the whole point of that post is this:
14 CoD games in the same timespan as Bungie/Ensemble came with 5 Halos...yet people complain about Halo being milked? Like 14 games in 10 years isn't milking! Final Fantasy took about 20 years to get to #14.

But the Halo books are the pearls. Ignoring them is missing out on an amazing backstory that makes the story in the games seem...lame.

People seem to forget that Frank O'connor (the guy who basicly runs 343 industries) basicly confirmed a Halo 4 that 343 is making.

Also Frank O'Connor has been called the Halo Historian and follows the Halo bible very carefully, he would not do something that goes against it, so chances are Halo 4 would be good.

Halo wars did follow the bible and everything in that game was Canon, no matter how much you whine about it.

Also they have alot more material to work with. Its an entire universe. There are other problems, other things to do, and more stories to be told.

They could tell the story about what the spartans were really for, stoping anyone that goes against the UNSC.

They could tell the story of a spartan training from a kid to an adult.

They could make alot more games.

I personally think it should keep going, so when my kids see my Xbox and Xbox 360 sitting in the corner gathering dust, they will know what I used it for.

I like mysteries and unknown. I can guess why most of the stuff is it like it is

Plus now I don't have to deal with the "Brutes can't be on Reach because they aren't in book", "BRs can't be in Reach because they aren't in the book, but they are in Contact Harvest"... I'm open to pretty much anything that can make a great game. Thankfully Bungie is trying to make games so anyone can understand the story.

It's like Star Wars, the movies and a couple of games are ok, but trying to follow everything Star Wars will make you busy, crazy and find plot holes everywhere.

NO GROUP INVITES!!!

Frank O'Connor's 343's director. And he just recently said something fearing that there might be too much Halo-related stuff coming too fast.
I think 343/MS will handle Halo correctly, and concentrate on quality.

So, no it's not dead.

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

"I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence."

After Halo Reach, that's it for me. 343 are probably gonna ruin the entire franchise and I just don't want them to spoil my brain.

Helping out the 7th column community with reasonable posts since '07.

One side wants me to say yes to stop making them, but thinking about it I only game because of the past, present, and future Halo games. There is no exciting titles out there for me other than that, I mean I will play other games and enjoy them, but not to the extent to Halo.

One side wants me to say no so they will make new original ideas and expand their own game company as an actual game company, and not that one company whom makes Halo games. Regardless I'm completely down for whatever Bungie wants to do.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.” – Psalms 46:1-3

No not really...as we have...

The S3s that have yet to be explored.

Ghost of Onyx....

Contact harvest ( dear god yes I want be a green mean fighting )

Gaps in between halo 1 and halo 2 ( HUGE fillers available [likely some thing will be added with reach] )

Not to mention games that can be completely re thought up based around the many races of the covenant.

Brs are in about 30% of First strike...and that takes place during Halo 1 time period on reach.

And were either of them released over a 5 year period? No, no they weren't.

Stupid ass washing machine...

In all honesty I would love to see a Halo: Marines.

I actually think the Marines are pretty damn awesome, I mean, yeah sure, they're god-damn useless in-game, but thats because they are 100% human and you're 150%.

But, like, we've had ODST, and they're just SpecOps marines, so how long do we have to wait until we can get H:M?

And as well as a whole new campaign and stuff, they could also include the Halo campaigns for all 3 games, possibly using a feature similar to the ghost-lap feature in PGR4 where you see Master Chief doing exactly what you did when you played as him, and then use it from a certain saved game. And they could link it up to LIVE and stuff so you can use ODST saved games and Reach saved games, too.

Definately something I'd like to see.

Oh My God... He's got a gun!

343 industries has said they laid out plans for the halo franchise for the next 6 years.

  • 11.07.2009 8:16 AM PDT

meh,I dont think it relly matters

developers will definately want to stick with the canon and if bungie (or any predecessors like 343ind.) do make more halo games then that'll be the case.

I don't like when people keep going 'ugh, another halo game'

its a good franchise with a huge fanbase and if the games that keep coming are good enough to buy, then I will buy them.

personally I wanna know whats up with that freakin planet the chief is going towards! i book would do but a game would be cooler

Yeah, for only like 8 pages.

I've been mad for freaking years, absolutely years, been over the edge for yonks, been working me buns off for bands...I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us...very hard to explain why you're mad, even if you're not mad...

I hope it just stops after Reach.

I really, really do.

Bungie is likely to stop after Halo: Reach other than maybe map packs and updates, Microsoft's 343 Studio's (Halo: Waypoint) however probably will continue to make Halo games.

  • 11.07.2009 9:23 AM PDT

But there's alot more in store of Halo. I wish to god that bungie will put out more. Just not the campagin aspect, sorta like the Halo 3: Mythic just multiplayer that would be good.

The Halo Universe is about as vast and untapped as the Star Wars Universe

"I'm afraid of the man I'll become if I lay my life down for the people I don't even care for"

I think Halo has too much story to be a game. It's probably the biggest scope stories existing out there which has already been set from the beginning in the halo story bible.

Books and movies would fit Halo better.
Not Games.

  • 11.07.2009 9:31 AM PDT

I think Microsoft aren't mindless sequel machines like Activision. I'm sure Halo will be spread through mediums other than games (movies, toys, shows) and with 343 acting as Microsoft's Bungie (in-house, wholly owned, yet operated in its own building under a different chain of authority) Frankie mirrors Joe in carriers of the Halo bible, and I think he knows Halo canon can go into shooters, strategy games, RPGs, or a hybrid of them all, and there's a lot of story out there to be told through games. I'm not saying we won't see a new Halo before 2013, but something will come out, and it likely won't be terrible.

  • 11.07.2009 9:38 AM PDT

I just wasted a few seconds of your life and you're never getting them back!

What i would really like is a forerunner game (though fighting flood 24/7 might be a bit boring).
