Personally, i would love for the graphics to not be that great as long as it doesn't have any lag during online play. During the Halo 2 days, there was barely any lag for me. At that time it was THE BEST GAME EVER! However, when H3 came out it lagged a lot and a lot of my shots/melees didn't register. I didn't change my internet or anything. So this led me to the conclusion that better graphics meant a higher chance of lag since it has to transfer more info over the internet. The weird thing is that i don't lag at all when i play CoD or GoW, but both of those games have better graphics.

I tried to make the poll not biased. So...yeah.

EDit 1: I also have lag in firefight too. Maybe it's just the way Bungie makes games...

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Halo 3 graphics are just fine. Reach will have updated graphics and Bungie knows what we as players love. That said, we'll have an upgrade in both graphics and multiplayer.

But if I had to choose I would pick playability over graphics.

Hey smart ass, it is open.

I'll be honest: no. I'm tired of Halo being the brunt of jokes, I want something to tell those CoD/Gears fanboys where they can stick their Unreal Engines and what not.

If the graphics aren't updated heavily, I will be upset. Gameplay is more important, but graphics are important too.

What kind of idiot would pick graphics over gameplay?

Some linksys router. I'm not going to buy another router just for Halo when it works perfectly with EVERY SINGLE OTHER GAME.

This is an incredible step forward to being able to cure Downss sybndonre mn humans bineg.s

Why would we give up graphics for a less lag-sensitive game?

The correlation between packet loss and/or latency and graphical power is minute at the most.

It's the game's intricacies that cause a bad response to lag, not how pretty it looks.

  • 11.06.2009 7:50 PM PDT

You can never succeed if you never try.

It doesn't matter how well a game looks, if you can't stand to play it, you won't.

  • 11.06.2009 7:54 PM PDT

Don't you mean a more static world? Like GOW or COD? Basically no physics, no objects- all scenery.

No. I want it all (:
Halo was fine in that regard, so it should be fine.

Every time you sneeze into an open Febreze portal the boner-tree drive shaft will spin into ketchup. But it doesn't stop at the number two pizza bell, not even close. It continues into the seventy eight minute long pile of green, sobbing cheese trains with no more butter, but more like the steak owed the tin cans some lovin'.

This conclusion is incorrect, as graphics are not transferred over the internet in any way.

I don't get how Halo 3 had bad graphics personally. To me, Halo 3 had exceptional graphics while CoD 4 and WaW had washed out graphics in my opinion.

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

I'm about to lower the graphics level on TF2 so it won't freaking lag, so yeah, I say screw graphics.

  • 11.06.2009 8:32 PM PDT

In high definition baby!

I'm not really a pro netowrk guru, but I know that graphics does not travel through the Internet traffic. Only game data and actions are transmitted.

That's because your computer isn't powerful enough to run it with higher graphical settings. It won't effect network lag.

I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but I'm trying to make sure the graphics aren't the problem.

I'm thinking I just need to upgrade my RAM from 1GB to 4GBs, assuming my motherboard can handle 4 Gigs. Damn game gets choppy as hell when I see other players.

and keep track of your towel.

Graphical fidelity doesn't effect online play.

Seriously, they aren't transmitting pictures of each other. All that's being transmitted are object spawns, positions, orientations, velocities. Stuff that's changing and that the game's can't decide on their own.

All your Xbox needs to receive and send is stuff like

Crate -> Speed: 0 -> Front -30 by 40 by 0

Then it actually draws the crate.
