Hey guys, this idea is purely speculation and I have no idea if it will be in the game. Probably not, in fact most definately not, but i think it would change the face of Halo for the better.

What if the game entire game, multiplayer, single player co-op(if you wanted the option on), Firefight(if it will even be in Reach). Was based on a point system.

Meaning, you would have different weapon classes, and you could earn credits for doing everything in the game.

Kill a grunt with a headshot? 2 credits

Get an extermination in an MLG game? 1000 credits.

In single player the amount of credits you would earn would depend on the difficulty, skulls on, etc

In multiplayer it would depend on the players rank according to yours.

Now, what would these credits be used for? Well say you had 2000 credits, you were starting a game on a large map and wanted a better scope for your rifle. And possibly start off with an antivehicle device such as a tripmine.

So you would got to the "Store" in your menu, select your Rifle and look through the upgrades avalible. You could get silencers (make you invisible on radar when firing)Grenade launchers(can launch grenades farther) and you find what your looking for a x4 scope, which you would pay for with 1000 of your credits.

You would then look through the equitment section and buy a Trip mine as a starting piece of equitment for 500 credits.

These upgrades would then be avalible for use perminantly, however as you level up more upgrades and weapons would be avalible for purchase, and you could sell old upgrades to the store to buy new ones.

There would even be room to have a Storefront where people could look at upgrades and sell customized ones for even more credits. This would allow for more tactical and better players to create entire classes for sale in the Storefront. So if a lesser player isn't doing so well he could play some campaign, save up and buy a class that would allow him to compete with higher skill players.

Again this could work with everything already in Halo, from increasing armor shielding for running speed. To adding a lock on feature to the rocket launcher at the effect of it taking 2 rockets to kill infantry.

This idea would ad an entirely new depth to the Halo community that we haven't seen since the release of Foundry, and to a lesser degree Sanbox.

Please discuss and feel free to add your own ideas. If the thread stays alive I will continue to update and add ideas.

Of course it is [cough]No, so many other games have done something like this there was absolutely no need to lie[/cough]

And no, players shouldn't have an advantage over other players just because they sat in campaign and killed grunts over and over. Like that one episode of Southpark where they were playing Warcraft.

Pretty cool... but it could turn out to be unfair. The better players get the better equipment blah blah.. still a cool idea though. Maybe for just single player.

Yes, I am basing it on the fact that the higher level player will not be a jerk and create a 1 hit kill class, but again that is why you could get credits in single player. So that a lower skilled player could save up and get a class that could rival a better player.

I trust that Bungie could find a way to balance the system so it was fair to all parties.
