In the book "The Fall of Reach", after the spartans killed some jackles they took there energy shields and used them for cover.

So you should be able to pick up and use jackles energy shields.

In that point in the book the spartans didn't have shields. Now that they do, there isn't much reason to take jackal shields.

Besides, from a gameplay standpoint, they are pretty much useless as they are tiny compared to your body and everybody is going to aim for your head anyways.

Agree but it still would be kinda cool.

ya, gotta know who you are...

It would supplement your existing shields, not replace them.

And from what I understand MK IV didn't have shields. It wasn't until the MK V was introduced that we saw Spartans with their own shields.

On Reach spartans had the same armor as chief. So they do have shields.
It could replace overshields.

wow thats a really cool idea it would be like duel weilding except with a shield and a small firearm

exactly

Like the Modern Warfare 2 riot shields? Yes please. And include the Elite handheld shields whilst you're at it Bungie, those kicked serious ass.

Success is just going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm.

Ouch! Just had a scary thought. In Gears 2, they have these big, bulky, heavy metal shields that you can use with a pistol. There have been a lot of glitches that people use to cheat. I don't know how that would work in first person though.

ya I know, but we don't know exactly in what time frame the plot for this game will be set. They all ended up with MK V, but it wasn't until near the end sometime before the major "short" battle took place. The actual fall of reach was very short compared to the rest of the story. There is a lot to tell, and we can't assume that it will follow the book page by page. That would be stupid. Using the book strictly, there simply isn't enough in that short little while during the battle to be made into an entire game. If we play any before it fell, they could very well have MK IV, therefore no shields. And looking at the banner, that armor doesn't look like MK V to me. Does it to you?

No, but we could also play part of the First Strike book?
