Thank you. Finally someone noticing the obvious.

Right, because of a possibility, that means there are no brutes in Reach.

Indeed.

He is implying that you didn't read the one post correctly.

If Bungie follows established canon, it is unlikely that there will be Brutes on Reach (the planet). After the disastrous negotiations on Harvest, the Brutes were withdrawn from front-line combat until the events of Halo 2. However, if Halo: Reach includes other events on other planets (which is entirely possible, did you spend all your time on a Halo throughout the main trilogy?) there may well be Brutes. However, on Reach, Brutes would be unlikely to be part of something as important as a strike on what the Covenant thought as the possible human home-world.

Thank you. Finally someone noticing the obvious.

Kiwi said there is a possibillity that there will be Brutes in Reach. You misread it and thought that he was saying that there is no way that Brutes will be in Reach, and agreed with him, and Pepsi pointed it out your humourous mistake.

That having a conversation with you is like arguing with my dining room table.

The less than a second latency of online play is a better system to play off of than more health.

You realize this system is just as host based, right? because if you're fighting host, or someone with a better connection to host, and you each start firing at the same time, his BULLETS will register first, giving him slightly more health if the melees happen at the same time.

So would you rather have the BS of both, or just one?

-HaVOk1228

A) We don't know that brutes will be missing from Halo: Reach. It is very likely that they will assume the supporting role (heavy weapons/ bullet sponge) they supposedly filled prior to the animosity of halo 2/ halo 3. Thus it is not entirely impossible to see some small deployments of choppers.

B) Even if the Bungie decides to omit brutes, and their chopper, from this game there is still the possibility of seeing a comparable replacement vehicle fill in for it. Just as the prowler filled in for the specter, we could very well come to know some psychotic human "mine clearing chopping bike" as the new chopper, or even just another covie vehicle that, may not feature the signature chopping front but, is built to ram.

Ok, you guys are all correct. There will be hordes of Brutes on Reach. Bye Bye elite enemies from the Halo Saga in general. If that is correct I now hate Bungie and their poor story telling.

  • 11.08.2009 9:05 PM PDT

Forgive your enemies but remember their names.

I think this argument is pointless. Frankly none of you can provide difinitive proof that there will be or will not be brutes in Reach.

i personally think that bungie will do one of two things, put brutes in game to add more variety of enemies and strengthen storyline

OR

bungie will not put brutes in because though i cant speak for everyone, most people i have talked to say they like fighting elites a lot more than brutes. Frankly in my opinioun brutes arent a very entertaining enemies just giant gorillas with bad attitudes and no honor

if you are going to flame me please do so with dignity

chopper was my favorite too if brutes arn't on they need an elite version.

So then some some of sleek, one-man covenant vehicle that also has a pair of integrated guns? Make it kind of bulbous like the other Elite vehicles, the Wraith and Banshee. Make it purple, they seem to like purple. And of course a boost of some sort.

Too bad we'll probably never see anything like that...
LOL!!! nice one

Just because there are a few brutes in the game doesn't mean that the game won't have elites or won't be primarily elites.

I never said that brutes must be in the game. I can't prove that. I was simply saying that assuming that brutes won't be in the game just because they hadn't been invented yet at the time of the writing of Fall of Reach is a poor assumption.

It's a dumbass assumption. Picture a dumbass brute running around on Reach. With a Brute Shot. teaming up with Elites. I can't picture it they are a waste of -blam!- pixels.

They drive completely different.

I'm sure we'll see at least one new warthog variant... NOS would be sweet ;)

Can you imagine a scene from Halo 3 where you have brutes up close fighting you with jackals in the rear with carbines supporting them?

Replace those jackals with elites. Unlike jackals, Elites fire from cover, reposition if their position gets compromised, and have shields so they don't go down from a single hit.

The difficulty of that enounter goes up by a lot as a result. The Elites and the Brutes don't even really need to be buddies who are working together even. Hell, they could just be seeing who can kill the "demons" first.

Not really all that hard to imagine. In fact it almost practically happens in the Halo 2 campaign, just pretend that the brutes and the elites aren't shooting each other in their spare time when you aren't fighting them.

Yeah and Brutes probably weren't even on Reach anyway.

Please quote me a line from any Halo media that says something along the lines of "And all the brutes sat on their asses in orbit as they sadly watched the battle below because not a single one of them was mobilized to the planet's surface ever."

The man has a point. It could have been the Elite fleet that attacked Reach. That was not the entire Covenant Armada.

Pal, I was on The General Public's "Troll on Sight" list back before the group went public and before they deleted all incriminating evidence. Your threat is meaningless to me. You are welcome to try of course, but you need to be able to live with whatever consequences that come with your actions.

Edit: Misread what Viper meant

My point was that it could go either way, and that we can't automatically assume that there were no Brutes at Reach.

I just can't stand the fact you guys think there were Brutes on Reach. And you want them in the game.

They weren't. Doesn't mean that they can't be in the game, since the game will adopt a different point of view than the book to prevent redundant stories.

I mean, it's like saying that Australia doesn't exist, because Australia was never mentioned in the bible.

(P.S. Uncyclopedia is awesome.)

Wow, you guys are retarded. If you've read the book First Strike, you'd know that the Spartans DO run into a Brute on Reach. I believe it actually states that ONI refers to them as Brutes, I can't recall. But I do know that there is a scenario in which one or several Spartans run into a covenant soldier that is bigger and stronger than an Elite, and engage in a fight with it. Why would Brutes be deployed to Harvest, but not Reach? Brutes were on Reach. You are all soooooooo obsessed with Halo, yet you have no clue what you are talking about. Why don't you try reading once in a while?!

  • 11.09.2009 12:49 AM PDT

Its a trap!!!

I want to fight mostly elites but maybe some brutes here and there for pick up some of their weapons

We don't know for sure if brutes will be there or not. The book didnt scan the whole planent and everyones point of view and said no brutes. Australia does exist =)

I like the idea of some brutes in your face back up by elites with carbines and plasma rifles

see who can kill the demons first is a good idea

Don't get me wrong I love elites as enemies far more and I want them to be the primary enemy. I just wanted the game to be as diversified as it can be

this game is an opportunity to make elites enemies again and to give them better AI then ever before. But also this games has a chance to have more diversity then ever before

  • 11.09.2009 12:50 AM PDT

Halo: First Strike, page 310. John, Will, Fred and Grace engage a Brute for the first time, and Grace is killed by Brute shots. The Brute nearly suffocates John to death, and John finally frees himself and kills the Brute by sticking a frag grenade into its' belt. They also run into several more Brutes after this encounter. They books refers to them as Brutes on every encounter. You cannot argue the possibility that Brutes will be in Reach.
