Now as you all know, when you start out with a BR, your gun holds 36 bullets, and there are 72 in reserve, presumably inside another separate clip. So why is it that when you use up 12 of those bullets inside the BR and reload, your gun holds 36 bullets again, and there are now 60 bullets in reserve. This does not make sense, you just dumped the entire old clip out and inserted a new one, so you SHOULD have wasted the remaining bullets in the old clip. So there should only be 36 bullets left in reserve, with another 36 inside the gun.

This would make people conserve ammo more, leading to situations where two people are in a BR battle, and one guy runs out of bullets (because he decided not to reload and missed a shot or two) and this causes him to die.

This would make Halo a little more about thinking and control of the better weapons even by lower skilled players, which in turn leads to players improving their skill. (Thinking almost ALWAYS improves your gameplay.)

Also, picking up ammo should be the same, you should only be able to pick up the clips the enemy hasn't used at all.

P.S This would not count for the shotgun, since you reload one bullet at a time, so the old reloading system should remain for the shotty.

Edit: P.P.S This new reloading system will apply to all clip based weapons e.g AR (I hope they cut it out), SMG, Magnum, Carbine, and the Human sniper rifle.

And yes, this MAY make the Beam rifle more popular than the Human sniper rifle, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I speak the truth, and truth speaks itself.
The lies disguise what you despise.
Run. Flee and be, what you've always dreamed.
What happens now won't matter later.
What you see will not be, nor what you imagine will not happen.
The end is close, so take your dose.

Games like America's Army uses the reloading system I'm speaking of. Except that you keep the clip you swap out, and you can use that old clip again later in the game, since you cannot pickup ammo in that game.

Does it matter?

I wish they would allow signatures at the end of someones post... Would be fun.

I see what you mean. But you have to remember. The BR will be VERY different than Halo 2 or 3. Before the starting of the war on Reach, SPARTAN-II's needed a long range, accurate weapon. They developed the Battle Rifle. But it was still a prototype until sometime around the slip space rupture on New Mombasa. From what I read the Prototype Battle Rifle had a shorter clip, and I think it didn't have a 3 burst shot.

So in conclusion, the problem you saw with the battle rifle will probably be even more messed up in Reach. But that shouldn't be a problem. Its all good.

the Halo style of reloading is in many video games. Only in Rainbow 6, SOCOM, and America's Army-type games have they used your magazine based reloading. Notice how these games have very different (and better IMO) multiplayer than Halo games, this is because Halo games aren't supposed to be super realistic, they're supposed to be balanced and fun to play. Not intense and realistic, if you've played SOCOM or R6 then you know what I'm talking about.

And gameplay>realism always

Why keep it a prototype for more than 27 years?

I liked in Halo 1 when you changed to the pistol and it made that noise.

I would flip weapons back and forth to hear it lol

Haha just because you couldn't deal with the no respawn? I guess that you don't put much weight on teamwork, or maybe you just aren't patient. Besides, you do not play that game for fun, you play it to see how the USA Govt introduces the army to the public. If you want to play for fun, you play Halo.

I used to get on these forums back in the Halo 1, anticipating Halo 2 days...I'm back :)

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

No no no. Who cares if it's not realistic? All shooters recycles bullets. It's just part of the game mechanics.

Yes this issue is Halo's major flaw.

Agreed, what exists now totally destroys the flow of the game.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Thats not just restricted to Halo and for good reason. Halo's biggest flaw is spawns, and consistency.

"Let The World Be My Witness"

Battlefield 2 for PC was like that ... you had to think strategically every time, I find it good, it adds some realism to the game.

I WARNED YOU ABOUT STAIRS BRO!!!

Because clip toss is dumb. Also note that the animation shows your player stashing the old clip and bringing out a new one, meaning he would still have the ammo left in his possession, though you'd eventually have a gun with a bunch of half-full clips if you wanted realism. But you don't want realism.

  • 11.08.2009 9:45 PM PDT

This is 500 years in the future, our definition of reality and theirs is irreconcilable. Maybe Chief has some spiffy thing in his suit that reloads the clips. Halo is a realistic game. Advanced technology can seem like magic to an underdeveloped society.
