Subject: Realism flaw in reloading guns that could be fixed in Reach.

I just wasted a few seconds of your life and you're never getting them back!

Because...that would be annoying. Im pretty sure most "conserve your ammo" games still use that system. Counter-strike, Ghost recon, Rainbow Six all use that reload system.

  • 11.08.2009 11:33 PM PDT

And you only realised that most video games did that NOW lol?...

The first game I ever played to use a realistic reloading system was Mercenaries 2.

=)

Just passing through life and trying to kill the time.

This is 500 years in the future, our definition of reality and theirs is irreconcilable. Maybe Chief has some spiffy thing in his suit that reloads the clips. Halo is a realistic game. Advanced technology can seem like magic to an underdeveloped society.

Although you have to note that most Halo technology is not that much advanced than our own. except for the starships and MACs and AIs of course. I hear that there's even a real-life automatic shotgun now or something.

[As of October 2012]
2013 ADFA Officer Cadet of the RAAF (Aerospace Engineer Electronics Officer).

Ugh, that happened in the old Ghost Recon games and I hated it, Halo isn't Operation Flashpoint, it's a fast paced arena based shooter.

Signatures are for squares.

Are you complaining about realism in a game set 500 years in the future with super soldiers and space marines fighting aliens.

Riiiiiiigggghhhhhhhhttttttttttt.

seriously no other game does this for a reason, not even "Realistic Call of Duty"."

Battlefield 1942 did.

This is so very true. If we went back even 50-100 years and talked about and show all our technological advancements, the past would think we are gods.

I don't understand why you're looking at my profile. Just back off, and nobody gets hurt, okay?

wellll, keep in mind that the 50's was beginning of the space age, and science fiction pretty much made people expect that we would have some of this stuff by now.

but, good point anyways.

as for the reloading thingy, i hate it. like what somebody said before, gameplay > realism.

Look out.... -boom- (headshot)
I told you to look out, but know, you got in my way, was going to shoot that splaser....

This is all assuming there will be a Battle Rifle in Reach.

Edited once cause I am a dunce

Plekpedia - The most epic site in the history of ever.

I do not like this idea.

Halo without Bungie is like a cookie made without love.

One reason, sir:

Gameplay > Realism

Fixed.

This.

Seriously.

Epicly this

  • 11.09.2009 7:41 AM PDT

Beware the smiley face! =D

Gameplay > Realism, as it was said earlier in the thread.

Theres no point being realistic to the point of diminishing gameplay in a game set 500 years in the future with space battles, aliens and lasers.

What's wrong with people these days? They want everything to be realistic in any FPS science fiction game which would be impossible because it's 500 years in the future.

Been here 6 years, been blacklisted 6 times, that's why I'm not Mythic.

OP.

No you -blam!- idiot. What videogame has ever implemented that style? None. Ya know why? Cause it's -blam!- stupid.

Wait, you actually checked this?

Will you be my friend?

Ugh. "Magazines" people. Not clips.

On topic, Halo was never meant to be realistic, so the idea wouldn't play out so well nowadays, whatwithall there being 4 Halo games out that utilize basically all the same game mechanics.

They would need a new game to implement this, without the Halo moniker. They could of course use the universe, but by sticking on the Halo tag, people will be expecting the same ol' gameplay.

EDIT: Really, if Bungie wanted to implement a "realistic" style, ODST was the game to do it, since everyone knew that this was meant to be a sort of different game from what we're used to.

Edit: P.P.S This new reloading system will apply to all clip based weapons e.g AR (I hope they cut it out), SMG, Magnum, Carbine, and the Human sniper rifle.

A clip is a small piece of metal that binds the belts of bullets together. ex M-1. what you are thinking of is a magazine

any way the AR, sniper, magnum. all have Box mags. the SMG uses ceaseless ammunition like the HK G11 so I don't quite know how the action works. the Carbine is an alien weapons so, it could fire killer kittens and bungie would find a way it makes sense. and the BR is just make no sense at all. so, they really don't care much for realistic mechanics.

I agree with this but, it's a small deviation and it barely bothers me.

KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!

Beam Rifle is already better than the human sniper because it does not need to reload.

Halo is fast and furious funnnn =D

This is not Farcry 2, we don't want realistic gameplay, we want Halo.

Too true.

I see what you mean. But you have to remember. The BR will be VERY different than Halo 2 or 3. Before the starting of the war on Reach, SPARTAN-II's needed a long range, accurate weapon. They developed the Battle Rifle. But it was still a prototype until sometime around the slip space rupture on New Mombasa. From what I read the Prototype Battle Rifle had a shorter clip, and I think it didn't have a 3 burst shot.

So in conclusion, the problem you saw with the battle rifle will probably be even more messed up in Reach. But that shouldn't be a problem. Its all good.

Uhh...no. The BR was a prototype at the very beginning of the war. The Battle Rifle in Reach should be exactly the same as in Halo 2/3.

Helping out the 7th column community with reasonable posts since '07.

Simple fix. Halo is not a realistic/simulator shooter, it's an arcade shooter.
