When someone first hears the word "cliché", he might dismiss the object described as outdated or lame. Videogame clichés and more importantly, developer specific clichés in a videogame can increase a players nostalgia for past games, while giving them a chuckle. Some Bungie clichés are:
The Skulls
The number 7
The monitor
The "library" level
Now, I personally think that Bungie should add some of these things into Reach, despite the fact that they are probably already putting skulls in the game. Therefore, the only one I really want to talk about is the "library" level. To those who don't know what i'm talking about, go play H1.
Through out the Halo franchise, there has always been that one level that mimics the library in terms of sheer mindlessness. (in H3 that level was Cortana) Now, that level has been the target of mocking ridicule for years, and yet it was a strangely satisfying experience, (at least before it got so repetitive that I seriously wondered if my disk was hacked) so here is my proposal:
After the credits, (like CoD4's airplane level) Let the players play through that same level again, with scoring and medals. Now, at first you might balk at the idea, but I think it would quite the satisfying experience, considering that the flood probably won't show their ugly mugs in the actual game, It would definitely give us our flood killing fix that we have been so craving. With Co-op, scoring, medals and achievements attached, as well as some easter eggs thrown in, it would be a worthy nostalgic addition to the game.
I did not make this a poll because I feel that there is no way someone could not want new, reasonable content. Therefore, please post your thoughts on the matter, and your suggestions as well. Thank You!
